About Mrs. Lobster

Details, Details…

August 6th, 2010 @ 5:34 pm by Mrs. Lobster

Last week, I had my final appointment with our florist who put together a table sample. I’m a dummy when it comes to things like decor and flowers. I can totally appreciate nice design but I can’t coordinate things very well. This is why I leave things to the professionals—for example, the centerpieces.

The Vision & The Reality

“Garden arrangement, pinks, whites, purples, candles” was my vision, and here is the reality:

I love the pink petals and the floating candle:

Then I started getting crazy and asking about other options for the flower stand and candlesticks:

But… due to lack of decisiveness, I’m just going to stick with what we got. Flowers, check! What’s next?

Ceremony Canopy

We’ve decided to do an indoor ceremony to avoid 3 things - heat, wind, rain. Indoors will be calm, cool, and during sunset to give that romantical glow. In doing so, our florist suggested a ceremony structure in lieu of flower pedestals. At first I was reluctant because of the price but deep down inside I do love flowy sheers! We’re also adding candles behind the back sheer for even MORE romanticalness.

This was a budget buster for sure. However, when we factored a few less tables (due to a smaller guest list), we actually came out even steven (debbie downer’s more balanced cousin, haha) to the original proposal. Phew! I wasn’t sure how to explain to Mr. Lobster the additional cost… or how I’d just sneak it in.

Did you make any last minute changes to your ceremony or decor?

Isn’t it amazing how much those structures cost to rent? We are renting an acrylic one for our ceremony, and my jaw hit the floor when I got the quote!

Yay for budgeting! And those flowers are really gorgeous. I wanna do something like that with red and pink accents! I love the draping on that focal point too. Something for me to think about, hmmmm….
