Quick-N-Dirty Hair Trial

August 6th, 2010 @ 10:59 am by Mrs. Thimble

Quick-N-Clean, really. I skipped that “day old hair is best for up-dos” step. My hair is on the oily side, so if I can wash it on the morning of my wedding I will be sooooo much happier by the end of the night.

On to the good stuff: I’m not going to share my hair-spiration with you because I found ALL of it right here on Weddingbee. I will however, refer you to an awesome thread saved in my favorites from the boards. Other brides did all the hard work and shared their inspiration pics and their own wedding ’dos so the rest of us could steal their ideas. ;)

Inspire and be inspired, ladies!

Mr. Thimble’s aunt is a hairstylist, and lucky for me, she has agreed to coif my bridal ’do. Her specialty is cut and color rather than up-dos, so we’re working in a few trials before the big day. I have full faith in her, and I think we’re on to something already:

Taking out the hot rollers—my mother is very thorough in her photographic storytelling. I fast forwarded for y’all.

Andi’s hands moving so fast you can’t even see them!!

My mom pulled this photojournalistic shot out of her back pocket. Why’d we hire a photographer for the wedding day?

Sorry for this fuzzy pic. They left me alone with a DSLR, a mirror, and a braid across my head. What choice did I have?

And a view from the back.

We are definitely on the right track. We need to secure the bun better. I’m going to try adding extensions for more volume and drama. And we might nix the braid because I like hair in my face (not those 2 pieces hanging down—I usually have long bangs). A hairband should sub-in for a braid quite nicely… we shall see at trial number 2.

How did you decide on your bridal hairstyle?

Love the braid and the back! She’s done a terrific job! Although, I’m not so sure about the pieces that are “hanging” in front. They look as if they were forgotten. Have fun planning and preparing!

2 thumbs up for the braid! I’m with you about liking hair in your face, but it can have a mind of its own and do you want to be worrying about if it looks ‘right’ all night? I’m struggling with this myself. The tentative plan is to have bangs down for the rehearsal and Rdinner, but to pull them out of my face for the wedding. But if you love your long bangs…. ;)

I love it, it’s soft romantic and pretty! I just had my first hair trial this past weekend and it went pretty well….we are on the right track too and having a second real practice round…where the stylist is going to pretend it’s the real day…full out hairspray and tons of pins..ooh I can’t wait!

You look so darn cute! I love the braid but I do agree that a headband would substiute just fine. Can’t wait to see your next hair trial!

I really like the braid (minus the two pieces in the front), but I can understand wanting to have more hair near your face. For someone who does not specialize in updos, Mr. T’s aunt sure did a great job!
