Remember the ongoing saga of who is walking me down the isle? Brothers or Momma Handy?
After talking with my amazing momma, she told me that she wouldn’t feel comfortable walking me down. She isn’t the type of gal who likes attention and doesn’t want to feel like all eyes are on her. (Again, I have no idea where I came from! Haha.) She said that nothing would make her prouder than to see her three babies walking down the aisle. As much as I wanted her to walk with me, I knew that she wouldn’t feel OK with it…
So after pondering the thought of my handsome brothers walking me down in their amazing uniforms, looking sharp, and being proud of their only sister, it brought tears to my eyes. (What! I’m emotional!) So I called Big Brother Handy, and of course he said yes…
Then I e-mailed Lil Brother Handy and asked him… and his reply was…
Of course! Then he told me some news. When he gets home from Afghan in August…he is getting promoted to sergeant and then heading to Japan for his next duty station, which will be for two years. He is to leave for Japan, in JANUARY! After a frantic e-mail back to him, “SO YOU’RE GOING TO MISS MY WEDDING!?!” he replies…UH OH! I’ll email you back in a minute; I need to go see my Ssgt. My eyes immediately flooded—I couldn’t breathe. I was hysterical. I called Momma Handy, barely able to speak, and she tried to calm me down. After a few hours of freaking out, crying hysterically, and having an emotional meltdown, he e-mailed me back…
He talked to his Ssgt, and he said that he could change his deployment to the first week in April. When they leave for a duty station, they get 45 days of leave to go see family, pack all their belongings, and get ready to leave. So he will be taking the entire month of March to come home, fly with us to Jamaica, be in the wedding, and fly back home to hang out some more. Then he flies back to Cali to get ready to deploy for two years.
In his response after all this, he said, “Did you really think I would miss your wedding? Have more faith in your brother. I got you.”
I cant even begin to tell you how relieved/happy/excited/proud I am of who will be walking me down the aisle…
Even though Momma Handy doesnt want to walk me down the aisle, I am still going to include her. She will take the ride with me to the aqueduct and walk me to the aisle to meet my brothers. All eyes will be on her, but only for a few minutes.
How handsome are they in their uniforms?! Pride doesn’t even do justice.
