My Online Relationship

August 9th, 2010 @ 1:30 pm by Mrs. Sand Dollar

With our photographer! I did two things the week after I got engaged. I booked MacLean Park, and put down the deposit for our photographer. You’d think by my quick action I had done a lot of research, but no sir. We found them and hired them pretty much on the same day. So who did we choose?

The Pros! I searched all over Google to find someone within our price range, which was under a thousand bucks. It’s really hard, you know. I didn’t want to get stuck with an uber traditional style, or someone who would take horrible photos of my shindig. Most got knocked out due to price alone. Then finally, the heavens parted and I found these.

I was in shock. Photos this gorgeous for that price? For just under $900, we got six hours of coverage by this fabulous photographer, and all rights to the images. No extra fees! I was blown away. I loved the style, the colors, the modern point of view perfectly balanced with the traditional. It was who we needed! So we jumped on it, and never looked back. We even took the advice of a friend and previewed 4 of his full weddings, and the quality never fails. Plus, each had over 700 images, which is way more than I could even think of what to do with!

The only part that gives me pause is, well, I’ve never actually spoken to our vendor. I spoke with the customer service agent, who was super sweet and helpful. But that’s it. I feel like things could turn out so much better than I’d hoped, or completely go down in flames.

Did anybody else choose a photographer solely off the internet? Have you worked with The Pros before? Are there any other crazies out there like us??

My sister used a company called The Pros in Philly, maybe it’s a chain? They were great though, she loved her photos.

We originally had our photographer from the Pros and I hated that I couldnt talk to her! I requested her first and last name and found her on facebook and got in contact with her that way. It was much nicer being able to talk to someone!! Then we did our engagement pictures and they turned out to be really disapointing. They looked nothing like the work of hers that we had seen and it was probably because we had only seen a handful of her images! This was our fault because we didnt do any research and solely booked based on price! We canceled our photo service with them and booked someone else.
However, we are still using them for our DJ service and I hope everything goes smoothly! T hey wanted me to wait until 2 days before my wedding to talk to the DJ and I wouldnt have it so I finally was able to get his phone number from them! I talked to the DJ and we have worked everything out, but looking back on it I would have probably gone with someone else who wasnt working for a contracting company.

Those images are incredible though and Im sure my story is not the norm but the exceptioN!

I pretty much booked everything based solely on what I could find on the internet. I don’t even remember how I found our photographer but we exchanged several emails, she wasn’t pushy, she gave me access to every wedding album which is what made me book her. Some photographers will only show you what they have on their website and my feeling was that those were the BEST, but what did the rest look like? Our photog and I didn’t meet till the day of my wedding…she brought along another professional photographer (who has a great reputation out there) as her assistant….they were with us for 4 1/2 hours and for a small wedding (7 people total) we have 1400 pictures. I had a great experience :)

My friend used The Pros in South Jersey. She loved her photographer, however, when the proofs came back there was a small speck on all of her pics (like a water droplet or something on the lens.) She contacted The Pros and while they couldn’t re-shoot her pics (obviously), they did their best to edit it out wherever they could free of charge. She was really happy with their customer service.

I *tried* to use the Pros for my DJ. Tried is the operative word. They didn’t tell me that my DJ wasn’t with the company anymore until after I made my full payment. I hope your experience with them will be better than mine was!

I almost booked with the Pros- they’re pricing is amazing. I was looking at their dj/photography/video package. Before putting down a deposit I did some searching on weddingwire.com and was a little disappointed! I asked the customer service person if I would be able to meet the vendors and she said no.The fact that you can’t talk or meet with the actual people who will be doing the work is what I didn’t like.. I’m still searching for these services but thought I’d share my experience. Hope it helps

We’re doing a destination wedding, everything has been booked online.

Found my photog through a wedding forum and called them that day… spoke to her (T of Alec & T Photography) and basically fell in love with her. I would have booked them on their website alone, however. It was the 2nd thing I booked (behind our resort).

We had interviews with a handful of photographers before choosing one.. and we went with the one that gave me a hug at the end! However, with great quality like those & that price I don’t think you have anything to worry about even if you haven’t met him yet!

I would not recommend the Pros. You don’t know who’s shooting your wedding till they show up the day of your wedding - it’s basically a hit or miss - you could get someone great, or someone who is awful for a low price. I would stress about not knowing who the photographer is! Have you checked out Weddingwire reviews? My coworker hired the Pros last year for her wedding, and hated the pictures - all of the proofs were terrible (I saw them). Out of 800 photos, she only found 5 she liked. She ended up gathering photos from friends and relatives to make an album in the end.

I’ve already booked my photographer. He came highly referred by a friend.

I did just submit a request to The Pros for videography though. It isn’t a big priority for me but everyone keeps saying that I will miss out on a lot of I don’t get one. “There are so many details in mine that I never would have gotten to see.”

You guys are making me nervous though!

@Violachap: I made sure to read reviews, and they had a 5 star rating. I know it’s super risky, but it’s one I have to take. I’m pretty comfortable after reviewing three of his weddings, so I’m sure we’ll all find out soon enough how they look!
