Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

We Heart Our Venue

We were in Napa last year, specifically to look for wedding venues, and V. Sattui was our very first stop. Accompanying us were my parents, Mr. Barrette’s parents, my best friend (Man of Honor), and his partner. We loved this first winery instantly and were able to meet with a coordinator right away for a brief tour. I was sold. But in the spirit of keeping an open mind, we made our way through the Valley, stopping at wineries that looked wedding appropriate. (And some just for the fun of it.) All afternoon, nothing could compare to that first heartbeat at V. Sattui.

We ended up right back where we started, six or seven tastings later, and all agreed that this was the spot. I felt bubbly with excitement (or it could have been the champagne) and in awe of what was to come! We looked at V. Sattui’s calendar for 2010, weighing the options of a summer or an autumn wedding. Instantly, a light bulb flipped on and I practically shouted, “What about 10-10-10?” The ninth was booked, but the tenth was open. Perfection!!!!

The number 10 has long been my favorite number, even before 10th grade, when the boy I crushed on was the number 10 choice on our list of contenders for Homecoming Court. This lucky number has followed me throughout my career and my travels, and imagine my delight when I learned that Mr. Barrette’s birthday was on the 10th of May. It was meant to be!

Did you love your venue right away? What’s your favorite part about your venue?

What a beautiful place! My husband and I just got back from a San Francisco honeymoon and I recognized the picture you posted as one of the wineries we went to on our Napa tour. Great choice of a venue!

Too funny. We booked 10.10.10 and a Sonoma winery for our wedding. What a perfect date to remember! Will be a stunning site :-)

Oooh - that’s absolutely beautiful! We also fell in love with our venue at first sight (before we even got engaged, when we entered we said ‘one day we are going to get married here’). Congrats!

We’ve been to V. Sattui several times for wine tasting and picnicing with all the delicious cheese and deli food they sell. Those photos are beautiful but it is even more gorgeous in person! Loves!

Oh I love V. Sattui! Like the pp, I’ve been there many times and remember a few times from when I was unfortunately too young to sample the wine, but loved the grounds and the yummy food!

What a gorgeous place!!! :)

It only took looking at a few awful choices to find our venue! Also I am one of those “lucky number” brides- that’s why we’re getting married in 2011, emphasis on the 11 :-)

What a gorgeous venue!! Love its character!

We love ours because of the loft-y feel - exposed brick and tall ceilings. Perfect for our look!
