Vineyard Picnic? Count Me In!

August 9th, 2010 @ 12:31 pm by Mrs. Socks

I don’t know about any of you, but some of my favorite engagement shoot series are from couples who use props and themes! When thinking of what to do for our engagement shoot, Mr. Socks and I were concerned about them looking a little too, “Look at the camera. Look at each other. Kiss. Look at each other. Kiss again” and on and on and on.

So in order to add visual interest to our photos, I started looking at inspiration and found that I was drawn to vineyard photos and picnic photos. So, what’s better than a picnic in a vineyard?

(The answer to that question is “nothing” in case you weren’t sure.)

I want that heart guitar NOW, by the way! How adorable!!

So I think that using props will help us be more comfortable being “us” rather than too mushy-gushy doe-eyed turned into awkward giggling. Wanna know what we’ll be using?

Props:

  1. Picnic basket
  2. Picnic blanket
  3. Wine
  4. Wine glasses
  5. Guitar
  6. bouquet of fresh flowers
  7. Fruit/veggies
  8. Snacks for the basket
  9. Dominoes
  10. Wine books/magazines
  11. Pillows
  12. Invitations
  13. White shag rug (trust me, it’s awesome)
  14. Little wooden heart

We might sneak a few more things on our trip, but I think that should be good! And where are we having our photos taken, you ask?

Laurita Winery! We looked at this place as a potential venue to get married at, and when our vineyard plans fizzled out, I was a tad disappointed. I thought that it would be a perfect way to fit in a little bit of that rustic side of me that keeps creeping its way into my wedding!

It has areas in the vineyard where we’ll take photos, but we could probably make use of their awesome porch/terrace/whatever area:

We’ll begin at 6PM so I’m hoping to get a few good sunset pictures here!

Did you incorporate props into your engagement shoot? Did you revisit a venue you looked at for your wedding for your engagement photos?

I completely agree! I was sad to see the vineyard we wanted just disappear when we couldn’t afford it. But I do have the rustic vibe I miss and I just love your inspiration photos. I can’t wait to see how they turn out!

Love the props idea! We had a travel theme to our engagement pictures that were taken at a railway museum and had some old school suitcases and a globe.

I hadn’t noticed the whole ‘props-filled’ engagement photos before - but I love it! What a great idea!

Nice choice Socks~

I loove Laurita.. it’s GORGEOUS and the inside is amazing as well.. all of that open space and beams and wood.. to die for!

I wanted to get married there, but at $200 a head it was wayyyy out of budget and you can only serve their wines and I love my wines from all over the globe.. so I knew it woudn’t work for me..
