Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Paper Gangsta: The Invitation

August 9th, 2010 @ 2:31 pm by Mrs. Argyle

Our invitations were one serious labor of love. I redesigned them multiple times, a little more satisfied with the design with each revision. And, with a welcomed epiphany earlier this year, we settled on a final design, one that was art deco enough for us both, but still minimalist.

We took somewhat of a different approach with our invites, opting to go a tad less formal with the wording. I love the formality of a wedding, but our wedding is no black-tie affair. For one, my parents like to go by their first names, and for the most part, Mr. A’s do as well. There are no “Mr. and Mrs. Argyles” in this family. And, because both parents so generously split the cost of the wedding, we made sure to include them both. And, my favorite part? They are red. A bold and gorgeous shade of red.

In sticking with our eco-friendly goal, we printed front and back.

Using the back of the main invitation to include the reception details / times / address. As for the design, I mirrored the front and reversed the colors, using red for the text on this side.

And the second best part? It’s all printed on 100% recycled cardstock. Score.

What was your favorite part of your invitation?

I love the fact that you used both sides. How refreshing.
My friend’s invitation was very labor intensive and all done by hand, even every single rounded corner…

Really digging your final design! Great job Argyle; I agree that its art deco and minimal at the same time.

@bakerysensei: As much as re-designing them a ton drove me nuts, it led me to our final design, so it was worth it.

@Mrs. Buttons: Oh yay!

@Mrs. Pin Cushion: Actually had them professionally printed. My home printer would have died from all that red ink!

@Miss Barrettes: Thanks much!

We also forewent the Mr. and Mrs. and just did our parents’ first names. I like it better, seems more personal.
