Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

Takin’ Care of Business!

August 9th, 2010 @ 1:50 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

Well, we’re all moved in and settled! Last week I was going crazy with an insanely messy apartment, and this week I’m feeling nice and at home in my beautiful (CLEAN) new duplex!

Takin’ Care of Business! : wedding austin 11 1

Takin’ Care of Business! : wedding austin 21 2

And look! A backyard! One that no one has ever done any work in, judging by the amount of leaves we’ve been raking up!

Now that we’re all settled in and starting to feel more at home, I feel like I’m ready to start tackling things again. If you’ll remember, about a month or so ago I had a slight panic attack when I realized that we had less than 200 days until the wedding. I immediately created a list of goals to complete by the 5 month mark, and I shared it with y’all to help keep me accountable.

Well, this weekend we hit 5 months until the wedding (and this week we’ll hit 150 days!) and so it’s time to re-visit the list to see how I did.

Need a refresher? Here’s the list:

  1. All of our Kusudama flowers will be folded.
  2. I will have decided on centerpieces, and will be collecting items for them.
  3. I will have a florist booked!
  4. I will have begun purchasing accessories (jewelry, veil, etc.) for myself.
  5. I will complete at least one other DIY project.

How did I do?

  1. All of our Kusudama flowers will be folded. Check! I got them all folded and am gearing up to start gluing them soon!
  2. I will have decided on centerpieces, and will be collecting items for them. Done and done! I’ll talk about this more later this week, but centerpieces are chosen, and we’re a little over halfway done with collecting pieces for them!
  3. I will have a florist booked! Mailed the deposit and contract in this week! (Thanks Mom Cardigan!)
  4. I will have begun purchasing accessories (jewelry, veil, etc.) for myself. Veil, check. Headband, check. Still need to make a decision on jewelry, though!
  5. I will complete at least one other DIY project. This one is where things get a bit sketchy. You see, I had every intention of completing another project, but technology (AKA an evil sewing machine) got in the way. I never could get it to work, and I’m in the process of trading it out for another one (Thanks BM Audrey’s mom!). I also started on another small project, but I ran out of supplies and have been too lazy (read: cheap) to go buy more.

Sooo, all in all I think I did pretty good. 4 out of 5 isn’t so bad. That’s a B, right? ;-)

I definitely feel like making this list of goals was very helpful—it was really motivating to have a list of things I knew I could take care of, and I feel like we’ve made immense progress since that panic attack a month ago! I’m pretty proud of my accomplishments. Now, if only I could finish a stupid crafting project!

Have you written any wedding to-do lists? Did they help you as much as this one helped me?

Your checklist is in better shape than mine was at 100 days! Haha. Your new place looks great by the way.

LOVE the new place! Very nice!

A note of weirdness, I was hoping to click on that first picture and get a better look at the montage on your wall, and it sent me to a post by Mrs. Ladybug from 2006.

Also, great job on the to do list! I love to do lists, everything seems so much more manageable compared to, “holy cow, I have so much to do, where do I start???”

Your place looks great! The FI and I will probably be moving within 7 months of our wedding, which I am already stressing about a year and a half out, lol! Congrats on the duplex AND getting your list nearly completed so far!!

Your new place looks adorable! So jealous you are all settled… We’re still all over the place, boxes, large piles of stuff to be assembled, piles of stuff to be sold… oh my.

I LOVE the kusudama flowers and need to find some way to incorporate them into my wedding. I think I am going to copy Ms. Guinea Pig’s idea and use them as escort cards!
