EEEEEEE! I am so excited about getting my very snazzy and pretty darn awesome wedding present. Nope, it’s not a fancy necklace or a pretty ring—it’s even better! Mr. Locket has had a plan in place for a while to purchase me a fancy new camera as my wedding gift.
I’ve been wanting a DSLR since pretty much forever, and Mr. Locket thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to grant my wishes. He’s been sneakily saving over the past few months, and just last week he placed the winning bid on my brand new Canon Rebel XTi. I know it’s not the newest model, but being the amateur photographer I am I don’t care…I love it!
The camera landed on our doorstep on Saturday afternoon, and I couldn’t have been more eager to test it out. Mr. Locket is a doll and knew that making me wait until the wedding day to use the camera would have killed me, so he is letting me play with it now. So this post is for you, Mr. Locket, to let you know how excited I am and how grateful I am for this gift. THANK YOU, SNUGGYBEAR!!
Now comes the tricky part. How am I going to top such an incredibly awesome gift?
Congrats on the new camera! That is a hard gift to top. Maybe you use the photos from it to make him a photobook of your honeymoon or something? That would be a very thoughtful gift!

@CorgiTales: Thanks Corgi! I have been having lots of fun learning the ins and outs, but can always use the extra input..@MicheleLouise: The HM is actually the reason I got it early…he figured I could get lots of practice in so I can learn to use it to take great HM shots.
so jealous. congrats! A friend who has her masters in photography just recommended this exact camera to me as a good starting point as I’ve never had a DSLR. Maybe I’ll drop hints to FI…
Oh sweet. As a photographer (parttime) I completely understand the awesomeness of this gift! My fiance gave me the Nikon D901 when my D80 went kaput. I was so happy I cried. I had senior pics and two weddings in less than a month to do! He knew how much I needed it and he got it for me. How could I top that?! Geez! ha ha

That’s an AWESOME present! I’m an amateur photographer myself and I adore my DSLR (mine’s a Nikon, though). For years I told myself “eventually, eventually,” then finally two years ago decided that eventually was here and I’ve never been happier with a purchase.
we actually just bought a DSLR yesterday as wedding present to ourselves. We can’t wait to use it at our rehearsal, wedding, and honeymoon. We need to figure out how it works because the wedding is FRIDAY!
I’m thinking about a very nice watch myself, perhaps that is something Mr. Locket might like as well?
Congrats Miss Locket!! My fiance also surprised me with a Cannon Rebel last week for my wedding present–for the exact same reason–pre-honeymoon practice. I was so excited!! Can’t wait to see pics from your honeymoon

I also have a Rebel SLR, if you ever get into traditional photography it handles film super well too!

I have a Canon Rebel too!! And it’s the shizz. I’ve even done a couple of real-life photoshoots (if it counts that I’m paid in free dinner) with it, and the results are fantastic. You’re gonna love it!
