Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

Playing Dress Up!

August 10th, 2010 @ 10:47 am by Mrs. Barrettes

I did a photoshoot for Guam’s annual Bridal Guide back in March 2009 and thought I’d share the end results for fun!

The shoot was a blast, and a number of Japanese tourists thought I’d really gotten married and took pictures with me. After I told the editor that I actually was getting married and that I have a very handsome fiance, she suggested that we do a shoot together. But my superstitious side kicked in and I got cold feet, thinking it must be some sort of bad luck to “play” bride and groom before the actual day!

Imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw teasers in the newspaper for the magazine! I had made the cover! Awesome! I don’t think I’ll end up wearing a ball gown for my wedding, so it certainly was fun to play dress up. I definitely felt like a Disney princess!

Gorgeous shots! I think it is pretty neat you were able to take those gowns on a trial run (much more than when you just try on in a store). Has that helped you decide what you want your dress to look like? I feel like it would definitely help me.

Gorgeous shots! You are def going to play bride very well! It’s great that you got the practice pre-wedding….good call on not doing the shoot together with your fiance…I am a bit superstitious too!

Yeah I would agree with your decision to not do the shoot with your fiance plus you rocked it out on your own pretty well!

Wow, you look amazing! The shoot turned out great and I probably would’ve done the same on not doing the shoot with the fiance. Looks great though! I can’t wait to see the dress you pick out for your own wedding day.

@CanadaBride: The editor of the mag saw a spread I did in the newspaper for the show I was in at the time. She called me up one afternoon and just plum asked me if I wanted to model wedding dresses for the Bridal Guide! Umm…YES!

Wow, just wow.

Were you able to take away any ideas from the shoot for your own wedding?

Wow! Great practice for the big day- and playing dress up is fun! I did a trash the dress shoot last march in a long dress- it was a blast because I wore a short dress for my wedding- best of both worlds.

@photographernico: It was funny because the photographer kept telling me to look at my bouquet, and I guess I like the shots so maybs I’ll try some of that :)
