Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: MacLean Park About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!

Send in the Boys

August 10th, 2010 @ 8:47 am by Mrs. Sand Dollar

I’ve covered what I’m wearing, and what my ladies will be donning. But what about the boys?

Mr. SD and I can get swanky sometimes. Here we are at the fabulous Rockwall Idol. He may look completely identical to this on our wedding day, except with black boots instead of those fugly brown ones, and a white button up.

He’s pimpin’ his black cowboy hat, starched jeans, black button-down shirt, and a sport coat. I’m actually trying to talk him out of the sport coat. I know, what kind of bride tries to talk her groom into something more casual? David Tutera would scalp me, I’m sure of it. To his defense though, doesn’t he look studly in a tux?

But… it’s just not him. And he would be leaps and bounds overdressed for our humble party. His groomsmen will be in jeans, boots, and black button up shirts. Besides, what women doesn’t go weak at the knees for a cowboy? Here’s the hunk who will be playing our music as we mosey on down the aisle.

My heart would be wasted on a city boy. I’m probably going to sprint down the aisle towards all those beefcakes standing up there! So to recap:

Groom - white pearl snap shirt, black hat, dark starched blue jeans, and boots.

Groomsmen - black pearl snap shirt, dark starched blue jeans, and boots.

What are your men wearing? Anybody else out there throwing tradition to the wind and having them wear jeans?

Adorable! Brad wants to wear a tux… and I am completely confused as to why he wants to wear a tux to our summer camp outdoor wedding…

something about southern hospitality and cowboy hats go well together…

Maybe it’s those Stetson commercials..

We are sticking with tuxes- although I think it would be hilarious if I put “black tie optional” and the groom came out in jeans :)

Cowboys? Yes Please.

Well - until Mr. Q, that is! I’ve twirled around many dance floors with a cowboy or 2 and while our wedding won’t be completely country, I plan to slip my boots on after the ceremony. There will be plenty of dancin’ and the DJ has strict instructions to go heavy on the TX Country.

Your guys are going to look great!! I love that they are wearing what suits them!

I’m curious… who is playing at your ceremony?

my country boy does look good dressed up, but is FAR from comfortable in a jacket and tie. For our (very warm) July afternoon garden ceremony, he let his BM take the lead on dressing them and they went with linen camp shirts, loose linen trousers, and slippers. In an extra nod to his BM’s Hawaiian roots, they also wore traditional men’s wedding leis - I loved the way it turned out!

I think they’ll look amazing and if that’s what you want, then I say go for it!!! My dad wore blue jeans on his wedding day to my mom. My wedding will probably be the first and only time I’ll see my dad in a tux. I really do think your wedding is going to look amazing though.

Sounds like great options. Though you are right, he does look good in that tux!

@Querida: His name is Will Kincaid, and he was pretty big in Germany a decade ago ;) He’s starting up a new band, and trying to record a new record. But for now, he’s just a good friend who’s super talented with a guitar!
