Mrs. Earrings's Picture
Mrs. Earrings, Fresno, CA/ Nelson, New Zealand Age and Occupation: 20, Student, Wannabe Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 19, Photography Student Engagement Date: February 14, 2010 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Gardens of the World About Me: I'm a girl from down under who grew up in Indonesia and I'm marrying a California boy. I'm addicted to all things sweet, have never met a chocolate silk pie than can get the better of me, and have dreams of one day being a fulltime novelist. I go weak in the knees for lace, tea cups, and a beautifully crafted sentence. When I get excited about something (whether it is historical linguistics or the Beatles) I tend to go overboard in research, and planning this wedding is no different. Mr. Earrings is my high school sweetheart, my best friend, and somehow we combine all our quirks into one big happy mess.
About Mrs. Earrings

What do you do when you’re feeling a bit flat? Well, we listen to music. This week I have been going back to the songs from our first tumbling-into-love days and feeling nostalgic.

Mr E is the one to thank for my music education (what there is of it, anyway). Before him I was pretty much ignorant of, well… anything to do with music. I liked it, sure. But I didn’t have strong opinions of what I liked or didn’t like. Mr E was the opposite. In high school his MP3/ iPod/ whatever he had at the time was always firmly glued to his ears. Music is crack to him, and slowly he dragged me over to the dark (and blissful) side as well.

Let Me Be the One to Call You Baby All the Time : wedding music new zealand relationships 7 7

Us, in high school. We’re in one of our favourite listening to music and getting up to mischief spots. :) (Personal pic)

“Smother Me” by The Used became our first “us” song way back in the early days of our relationship. To me, it symbolizes that moment when we both came to the realization that what we had together was different from just a random high school fling. It was something more, something scary and exciting and more fun than I could have ever imagined.

When I brought up the subject of our first dance the other day, Mr E said “Smother Me” as quick as a flash. And so, it was decided. :)

Go ahead, have a listen:

I can’t wait to waltz in the grass (preferably with bare feet) with Mr E to this song.

Did picking your first dance song come easily?

This is such a sweet song! Bert’s voice brings back memories…I’d never heard this song before, but I listened to The Used all the time back in high school too. Haven’t listened to them in quite a few years….

What a sweet song–it’s new to me. And where is “your spot” in that picture? One of your houses? It’s amazing!

@Mrs. Pin Cushion: Actually it is at our school in Indonesia :) It is on a big hill so the seat we are sitting in has great views!

No! We have been struggling with this actually.. I had a clear idea of what I have “always wanted” but then together we had a different vision. However we want to do choreography & the new vision might not work for that.. so case closed, maybe?
