About Mrs. Trail Mix

Two Months Gone…

August 15th, 2010 @ 6:00 pm by Mrs. Trail Mix

Just a few musings on the day of our two-month wedding anniversary (which, technically, was yesterday but I got confused because I thought yesterday was Wednesday, when it was actually Thursday. Things like paying attention to the day of the week get a little hazy when you’re on summer vacation, forgive me… :) )

Anyways, first of all, whatthebejeejaholyheckin’ whaaaaaaat? It’s really been two whole months since our wedding? I think back to when I was two months out and feeling like the wedding was still forever away and now these past two months since have flown right by in the blink of an eye (and it ain’t no lie, … Heehee, I’m a poet and I know it).

Craziness, right? But I have to say. I totally thought I would be really sad once the wedding was over and assumed I would have a mild case of post-wedding depression, because I’m an emotional basket case and cry at those Mastercard “Priceless” commercials, so obviously one would think I’d be a complete mess when something as major as my wedding was over.

But… I’m not. Which is a relief, because the last thing my friends need after listening to me obsess over planning the wedding for over a year would be to listen to me obsess about all the silly things that went wrong. Same thing goes for my mom (and cousin, and grandma and co-workers and…You get the point).

But truthfully, I am still bitter about the weather. Do you know that there have been exactly eight Saturdays since my wedding and the weather in my hometown has been freakin’ gorgeous for every single one? I know because I’ve asked my mother about each and every one, refusing to believe that my wedding day will be the only rainy Saturday of the entire summer. But that’s what it’s shaping up to look like…

And yes, I may have shed a tear or two when I saw this photo:

Two Months Gone... : wedding albany relationships Chelsea Chelsea

And no, I didn’t cry because I was so happy for Chelsea (although there may have been a smidge of nostalgia) but mostly for that beautiful, sunset glow behind them, maker of the most beautiful. wedding photos. ever. I love my pro pics to pieces (more on them below) but I had my heart set on a photo like the one above and now it shall never be. Tear (cue sad violin music here…).

I mean, I did want my wedding to be memorable, which it certainly was. And our guests certainly did drink and dance with a mild reckless abandon, thanks to the rain. (When your feet are sitting in two inches of mud, your hair’s a frizzy, pony-tailed mess and you’re holding the blackened hem of your wet wedding dress up in one hand, there’s not much else to do but chug a Jack and Coke and get your butt out on the dance floor.)

Also, you know what ended up being one of my absolute favorite things about the wedding? The music. There are so many songs on my iPod now that instantly take me back to some wonderful moments with just the first few strains (it’s pretty much impossible for me to hear “In My Life” without tearing up now).

Plus, the band rocked it OUT. We told them we loved The Beatles and they went to town, playing so many awesome songs that someone commented during “Obla Di, Obla Da” (life goes on!) to Mr TM what a great idea the Beatles cover band was. Which is funny because they are not a Beatles’ cover-band, just specialize in songs from the ’60s and ’70s. It was super-duper good clean fun for all ages and I think the majority of folks enjoyed the musical selection… whenever I think of our wedding, the soundtrack is one of the things that makes me smile.

And finally, I have our pro-pics but I’m holding out on you guys just a little while longer, for a few reasons, but mostly because I’m a big ol’ selfish meanie-head and just not quite ready to share… I’ll get over it soon but I just need a little more time pouring over them because honestly, I’m totally obsessed.

But just for fun and because you made it this far. I’ll give you one little teensy sneak peek of The Kiss…

I loved this moment and I love this photo. Thank you, Kelly, for capturing it so beautifully.

June brides, how are you feeling? Recovered from your wedding yet? Basking in the glory of your pro pics? Anyone else still mulling over a few snags or mishaps?

Ohhh, TM. We are two peas in a pod, my friend. I have counted every. single. Friday. since our wedding, and EVERY SINGLE ONE HAS BEEN BEAUTIFUL AND SUNNY AND GORGEOUS AND SPECTACULAR. Ahem. Not that I’m bitter about my wedding day weather or anything. ;) Obla di, obla da…life goes on, right?!

I know exactly how you feel. Our 2 month ann. was aug 12th. We only had very minor things go wrong, and I let those vendors know that there were problems. I’m ok with it. Almost no one even noticed- and they were things completely out of my control. (DJ screwed up, AC on limo bus was out–hot hot hot!) Friends and family keep telling us what a blast they had at our wedding. I’ve been sad that our day is over. Now I have the problem of all my friend’s upcoming weddings. I’m very happy for them, but I find it difficult not to be jealous when helping them find and try on their wedding dresses. They are the ones that get to try on these beautiful dresses now. I try to be as supportive as possible and put on a happy face. I will admit that I have even put my own dress on a few times… the first few times post wedding I was in tears. Know that there are others in the same boat as me helps. best wishes on your wedding!

I’m a July bride and hate my pictures! My photographer missed so many great shots and took pictures of the same people over and over, I’ve used better pics off of facebook that guests took than our photographer. I still get mad talking about it :(

I say put on your beautiful dress, tell the hubs to step into his black suit, call a photog and go have a photo session with a beautiful sunset in the background. Oh, and don’t forget to bring along some Beatles tunes to play in the background! Plenty of people do post-wedding photo shoots and you are MORE than justified.

I’m excited to see more pictures. So sad it was rainy, but sometimes the diffused light makes for better pictures than the direct sunlight!

What a bummer that it was the only rainy day! You guys had some AWESOME sunset and glowy sun photos on your honeymoon though, so maybe that offers a tad bit of comfort?

I love that photo, and I can’t wait to see more! Don’t hold out on us too much longer!

Happy 2 Months! It’s hard not to focus (or obsess) about something that went wrong, isn’t it?? Why is that? I’m glad you were so happy with everything else besides the weather!

My photog is holding my pro pics hostage! I can see them, but he won’t give me the files so I don’t know if I can ever share them on Weddingbee! :(

Happy 2 months! I’m in the mind set that the weather on our wedding day will be awful. Most times I got to Newport it rains, so if it’s nice, I’ll be thrilled. I would be soo disappointed though if my wedding day were the only rainy day of the season.

It rained on my wedding day, big storm right around the time we were supposed to outdoor pics, so no nice outdoor shots. My photog left a lot to be desired. At least I was able to come up with enough nice pictures for an album. My videographer rocked however. Our honeymoon was also a washout due to a tropical storm in Mexico. I also got hurt ziplinning because rain and zip-lines don’t mix. I’m still glad to be married even though we have faced since the wedding FIL’s agressive prostrate cancer diagnosis, FH’s skin cancer, the death of a grandparent and other no so nice things.

Happy 2 months TrailMix! I am keeping my fingers crossed that there won’t be rain on our day! It’s metaphorically poured on our wedding planning recently and I think we deserve the sun!
