Veil Love

August 16th, 2010 @ 11:20 am by Mrs. Starfish

I was so indecisive about my dress in the beginning, but once I put on a veil, I felt like a bride. I felt classic and romantic and knew I needed to wear one on the wedding day. I tried on a few kinds, but nothing felt as special as the cathedral length styles.

I don’t think any other veil compares when it comes to a Rhode Island coastal wedding. I love photos of veils blowing in the ocean breeze. It looks so magical and romantic.

The cathedral length is perfect with the dress and perfect for the location.

I originally wanted embellishments on the veil, perhaps a bit of lace at the bottom, but there is something just breathtaking about a simple white tulle veil.

Are you wearing a veil? What style was perfect for you?

I also fell in love with cathedral length veils almost immediately! At first I wanted no veil, but there’s something that’s magical about putting one on and — poof! — you’re a bride! My veil is simply ivory tulle, and my mom hand-stitched beading all. the. way. around. the. edge. It took her forever and it’s gorgeous. Simple, understated, and I can’t wait to wear it!

I love my veil. Its just a one tier fingertip length with a satin ribbon edge in ivory. It is so beautiful and I love wearing it!!

No veil for me, but I like the way they look on other brides!

I originally wanted a cathedral length veil as well…perfect and classic. But once I chose the gown with scalloped lace all around the bottom, my mom vetoed the cathedral length veil because it covered details. I went with fingertip length, single layer.

@MadtownBride: the beading sounds gorgeous!
@MsBunting: I changed my original vision based on my dress, too! The lace hid the detail at the bottom of my dress.

I am the same. I am getting married in Mystic, CT on the coast and all I can think about are amazing veils shots at sunset by the water!

When I tried on dresses just like the shows when I started smiling the consultant put a veil & head piece on me and that is truly when it felt real! So while I wasn’t sure althought I was leaning towards it I do think I will be getting a veil but I want it to be pretty & shorter (waist length I think)

Gorgeous inspiration! I am not wearing a veil because I am getting married in the desert and there will be no gentle breeze to make beautiful photos like that.

I SO want a veil but I think it’s a little too formal for a backyard wedding!
