What I Wish Were Underneath

August 18th, 2010 @ 11:13 am by Mrs. Plaid

As I mentioned in a previous post, I’ll be wearing “not-so-sexy” shapewear under my dress because it’s really the only thing that’ll hold everything in place on my wedding day. However…it’s totally not what I really want to be wearing under my dress. Especially when it comes off later that night.

Here’s what I’d rather spend my wedding night wearing:

What I Wish Were Underneath : wedding austin undergarments Lingeri Source/Source

There’s the classic bridal lingerie.

Or…

…there’s something with a bit more of the “bow-chica-bowwow” factor. Mr. Plaid loves blue, so I could go the blue route, or I could wear something with an extra bit of sexiness, such as a corset/garter set.

There will definitely be some quick changing in the bathroom so Mr. Plaid doesn’t have to see the unsightly undergarment. His eyes will only see what should be under my dress (in my dream world, anyway.)

What are y’all doing about your wedding-night lingerie? Are you able to wear it under your dress, or are you gonna have to do a quick switch-a-roo in the hotel room, too? (Haha…that rhymed!)

Well I DID have plans like you to just do a switcheroo and do shapeware on the day of. But then I found out that my FI is VERY excited about the actual taking off of the dress. So.. I might forgo (or ditch during the reception) the shapeware and opt for cute undies. But I’d still like to have some bridal lingerie so after I let him get me out of the dress I might have to head to the bathroom and change anyways. lol.

I think, when I get back to America, I’ll be looking at cute bridal lingerie to do a switch!

yowza! that long blue nightie is so glam. i wish i could go to bed looking and feeling that great every night!

i think i’ll go the same route as @CorgiTales because it’s just been brought to my attention that the FI wants to be able to take the dress off.

either way, i’m sure our bridal wear won’t go to waste. there’s always day 2 ; )

I’ll be wearing cute undies, but a strapless bra of sorts up top. I’ll probably taunt him with a “hold on let me freshen up” (which I’ll wanna do anyhoo) and switch-(a-roo).

I wore lacy panties, a white corset, and a white strapless bra under my dress, and they did double duty. Honestly, I would have had more fun with some frilly bridal lingerie, but my husband liked the taking the dress off part (and I wouldn’t have been able to get it off without his help!) - and he was so excited about getting everything off that I could have been wearing anything. I saved the fun lingerie for the honeymoon.

Because there is no way in hell I’d be able to get out of my dress on my own a switch is not an option. So I’ll have him loosen the dress then I can tunnel out of it to change into something sexy ha ha ha

You could always do a getaway outfit. Have your mom or MOH help you out of your dress then you can ditch the granny panties and put on the sexy stuff. That doesn’t work if he wants to do the physical removing of the dress though.

I hadn’t thought about the Mr. wanting to take off the actual dress! That makes it so much more complicated!

I think most of them dream of removing you from the dress honestly. I don’t know about Mr. Encore, but I know Mr. Ex did. Anyway, you can meet halfway here so no switcheroo is required. Corsets are shapewear. Corsets are also sexy. Most men like corsets. So why not get a pretty croset/bra combo and slip on the matching undies for it. Then when he peels that dress off, you’ll be in your shapewear but it’ll be the bow-chica-bowwow he was wishing for.

I had to wear the big scary undergarments with my wedding dress and planned to change into sexy lingerie when we were back in the hotel room. But the dress-like corset and petticoat were too funny not to share, so I ended up showing him before I changed into the pretty lingerie. He laughed his butt off at his normally tomboy-ish wife in giant frilly underthings.

It seems like a quick switcharoo is the best option since many dresses involve limited choices on underthings. I would not worry about it Miss Plaid & I’m sure everything will still be wonderful!!

What’s wrong with the editing here lately? SO MANY POSTS WITH SPELLING MISTAKES. What I wish I “WERE”? Really???

(English is not even my first language and this is making me cringe.)

No. Because she’s referring to multiple items of lingerie, “What I Wish Were Underneath” is the correct construction. The verb refers to a plural object.
Anyway Plaid, I hear ya! Seems to me that with shapewear–the better it shapes, the frumpier it looks. But I’m sure your FI won’t object to “costume changes!”

Anon, chill out! You misquoted the title there, in all your giving out!

As far as I know, most grooms consider the dress removal their prize for spending the day stuffed up in a tux. Poor wee things…!
Good luck to my fella, it’ll be a one-shoulder-boulder-holder for me if I don’t get my ass in gear in the gym again!

Sorry, Anon, but you’re getting all worked up over nothing. In this case the verb “to be” takes on the subjunctive form “were” because the statement is contrary to fact (those types of lingerie are NOT under the dress, although she wishes they were). Not to be confused with the past plural form which would also appear as the conjugation “were”, the subjunctive form is used to denote something that is not true, but one would like to be true.

As a former English major I get worked up by this kind of stuff too. I just try not to call out others’ mistakes, because I find it rude. :)

Sorry for that — I read “what I wish I were” (instead of what I wish I wore) and didn’t realize until the comments that the second “I” wasn’t there.

Said that, I have been seeing loads of simple spelling mistakes in posts lately that would be fixed with just a simple editing check. I guess this was the tip of the iceberg (even though it looks like I misread the whole thing, oops!)
