Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).

Branding the Wedding

August 19th, 2010 @ 5:30 pm by Mrs. Hippo

As soon as King Hippo and I finalized our wedding date, I was on a mission to create a “look” for the event. I plan to DIY our invitations, save the dates, programs and thank you notes, not only ’cause I have an inner love for graphic design and all things crafty (although I don’t do either all that often) but also to save some serious dough. I’m hoping that a unified design and theme will make everything look professional, instead of like I designed it on my three year old laptop and printed and assembled everything at home… which I will have. It’s all about the illusion, right?!

A co-worker of mine purchased a wedding logo on Etsy for her wedding last year, so I started there and quickly found a logo look that I liked that I thought I could build my stationery around. It was my first Etsy purchase ever! Here are the two logos we will be using throughout our stationery:

Branding the Wedding : wedding dallas stationery Wedding03 wedding03

Our names are in script at the bottom

Branding the Wedding : wedding dallas stationery Wedding04 wedding04

Our names are curved at the top

I swear it’s WAY better without the missing info, but you can get the basic idea. Our logo will make its debut on our save the dates!

What do you think? Are you using a monogram or another element to tie everything together at your wedding?

We don’t have a monogram, but we do have a tandem bicycle image that is on all of our paper goods. Your logos look great!

None. I probably won’t even have one even. But it looks good.

I’m jealous. I totally contemplated this but then I couldn’t figure out how I would use it. So I was forced to give up. But I’m totally jealous that you get to do it and I think it’s an awesome idea!

i used to work at a scrapbook store and there is a vendor named “k and company”…this reminded me of their logo as well! (which was VERY classy, by the way!)

@heysuga: Not at all! The seller was Ann at mpressdesigns.

But it doesn’t look like she has logos posted anymore. I’m sure if you reach out to her, she can help. I paid $7 for the two different logos in two different file formats.

We have a logo/monogram that I designed for our invitations (I too am DIY the Save the Dates, Invitations which include making the pocketfolds, the programs, and the thank you cards). I use it every chance I get!

Big fan of #2. Love the medallion shape. I’m thinking about doing a small one for ours–an easy way to class things up!

Yup, it’s a little logo that I designed in Photoshop. It’s a rose and a double-headed axe with a spear in the center (you know the axes the rhinos used in the Disney Robin Hood? Like that only the length of a regular axe).

I came up with it for the invites, then made another version for the guest sheets (for the guestbook) and that’s gonna be used on shot glasses, too. (It’d also work as an AWESOME tattoo!)

We’re white, but we had chops made on a trip to Taiwan, and used those on everything. Result: half the family decided we were having an Asian-themed wedding. Um, no, those are our names, people. We’re having an our-names-themed wedding.
