Mrs. Glasses, Tokyo/Los Angeles, CA Age and Occupation: 24, English teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, English teacher Engagement Date: September 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Parents' backyard About Me: I’m an expat living in Tokyo. I’ve been in Japan for almost three years now, where I met my fantastic English fiance. It’s time to leave Japan, so we are planning a fun, intimate, backyard ceremony back home in the suburbs of L.A. in October. Our wedding will be a mix of my love for food, beer, my Japanese culture, and Mr. G’s Englishness. We are on a tiny budget and DIYing almost everything!

Our Etsy Invites

August 19th, 2010 @ 2:41 pm by Mrs. Glasses

I’ve lost my Etsy virginity. After flip-flopping about how we’d make our invites, we’ve finally decided to have an Etsy seller design and print them off!

Simple, pretty, on theme. Huzzah. Red, black, pink, and white to match our theme—we even ordered red envelopes! Claire added her own design-eye and made a few of the cherry blossoms red. She responded quickly and made the invitation process quick and simple. We are going to be undertaking so many DIY projects in October, I figured we should K.I.S.S. with the invitations. That’s Keep It Simple Stupid!

We are going to make these wraparound labels for our outer envelopes, however:

I am a little sad because I think, if we had the time, we could have done some really cool DIY to create something really Japanese-y. I could have gone out and bought a million stamps and origami paper, and had some calligraphy done. But the nice thing about these babies is that once they are finished, they’ll be sent to my mom’s house and she’s taking care of them! Puttin’ the stamps on, adding wraparound labels to the outer envelope, filling in seat numbers…yeah man, I’m spoiled! We have absolutely no time to do that stuff here, and sending them out from here would cost a fortune. So, whatever, I’ll never even get to see my invites.

Ahhhhh, freedom.

Are there any wedding projects you’ve kept simple?

I love those. I also did mine through a designer who is now on Etsy (found here somewhere else though) and was really happy with them. I’ve ended up ordering a lot of our decor through them (and gifts!)

I’m keeping my cake simple. Just white and ivory, no topper, no fancy design that can get messed up…. just a cake. sad yes, but I’m just not into stressing over cake design.

I absolutely love them! My fiance and I have considered cherry blossoms as a theme for our wedding, too. :)

I love them, very pretty and elegant. Love the matching wrap around labels. Did you order and extra one to keep for yourself? Maybe for your wedding announcement you can get creative with stamps and such. :)

Hey Glasses, do you want to hear an awesome pun I just made up?

Doing some crazy DIY would have been Japanese-y, but it wouldn’t have been JAPAN-EASY.

GET IT???????? Ooooh, I am proud of that.

Also, the invites look adorable!!

I love cherry blossoms! I’ve long been convinced that I’d do a nursery in them. That’s not at all nutty to share, right?
@Miss Octopus: Oh, Octo, no you di’int! Hahahahahha.

They look great! And the wrap-around-labels will add a special touch.
@Miss Seashell: And Seashell, I’m guessing that at least 50% of Bees have nursery ideas (we are obviously planners around here . .. )
