When we arrived at the church, my bridesmaids and I were quickly sequestered into our church bridal room. I gave my wedding bands and my card for Mr. FF to my MOH B to deliver to my hubby-to-be. Mr. FF and I had decided before the wedding to nix the presents and just swap cards right before the ceremony.
I’m so glad we did this — reading the card from Mr. FF before I slipped into my gown is a really special memory for me. It just goes to show you…you don’t have to spend a ton of money to make a moment special. (OK, I’m done with my sappy after-school special quip.)
Since we had arrived at the church an hour before our ceremony time, I had a lot of time to… well, stand around and chat with my girls. We weren’t doing a first look, and there wasn’t anything left to plan at this point! I hung up my gown, and my bridesmaids began changing into their dresses.
Our florist delivered our bouquets, and I was so happy with them. They were exactly what I wanted: pink peonies, ranunculus and roses. Perfection.
My bouquet:

Meanwhile, French Fry Mom and Dad made sure all our church decor was just right. They arranged all of the tulle pomanders down our aisle…

… directed Carrie, our florist, on where to put our altar arrangements and unity candle…

…and made sure that our ushers had our ceremony programs.

Meanwhile, Mr. French Fries had arrived at church and had started getting ready in our priest’s office. He opted to get dressed at church, because getting ready at home meant he ran a very large risk of getting dog and cat hair all over his suit. We love our furbabies, but… well, they’re furry, and that can mean a lot of lint-brushing!

I still love, love, love his socks. ![]()

Soon, he was looking quite handsome, and was ready to go.

I love this one. ![]()

At this point, it was around 2:40 and it was time for me to get into my gown. Getting into my dress was an all-hands on deck effort, since it required putting my hoop skirt through the bottom of my dress, me climbing in from the top, and then arranging the tulle snowstorm that was the crinoline of my skirt.

Like I said…all hands on deck!
Then, Mom French Fries and my sister (MOH B) started buttoning up all of the little buttons on the back of my dress. Here’s a tip if you have real buttons on the back of your gown—bring a crochet hook! I completely spaced on this, and it would have made this part go a lot quicker.

I opted to wear a sash around my waist to add a little “something extra” to my gown. I ordered it from Etsy seller tedzeppelynn. It was a perfect match to the fabric on my dress!

My mom is known for tying *perfect* bows, so naturally I left the tying up to her.
I gave my mom a hug, and got some final words of wisdom (or maybe just something to make me laugh):

And finally, it was time for my dad to see me, and for us to get ready to take our big walk.

I took a deep breath, and prepared to take my last steps as a single woman!
