Mr. A’s family is not from St. Louis. And, even for those of our guests who are from St. Louis, not everyone can navigate to the Jewel Box or Windows on Washington without a little help from Google Maps. This was exactly why we wanted to include a map with our written out directions. But I wasn’t up for trying to create a map myself. I have some artistic ability, but I’m sticking to my stick figure drawings. I knew there was really only one person I wanted to do our map: Amanda from Swoonoverit. Her hand drawn maps have great character and flair. Plus, they’re just good fun.

After she sent me a worksheet, I filled it out and sent it back along with my deposit. She had a few questions along the way - just to make sure all was well, and, she sent me a few drafts to review. With the final sign-off, she drew a final copy, and dropped it in the mail.

Because everything in our invitation suite was either red or white, I had to do a little Photoshop magic. I wanted to make everything on the map appear in red, rather than the black - but wanted it to be the exact red from our invites. With a little Photoshop quality time, the map went from black and white to red and white.

For the back, we included written out directions, along with details about the hotel blocks we set up, and our wedding website so guests could find out more details.

It was the perfect little invitation insert.
