Mrs. Turtle's Picture
Mrs. Turtle, Central California Age and Occupation: 21, Art Student/Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, English Student Engagement Date: August 16, 2008 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Mr. Turtle's Grandparents' backyard, Arroyo Grande, CA About Me: I am a California girl who loves the beach and the mountains, but is quite satisfied living right in the middle where I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I am happiest when traveling to faraway places, wandering through museums, watching old movies, or baking up a storm. Mr. Turtle and I are high school sweethearts and fellow book nerds who both drive Mini Coopers and are most likely to be found browsing in antique stores. We're having so much fun planning our European garden wedding with a vintage twist and can't wait to share more of life's adventures together!
About Mrs. Turtle

After having a wonderful time in London, we made our way to Paris! I had never been to Paris, even though I’d been dying to go for as long as I can remember. I would have been seriously crushed if it had not lived up to my expectations. Thankfully, it exceeded them! Mr. Turtle and I both fell in love with the city!

And it was truly love at first sight. (Admittedly, the fact that our hotel, The Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel, was located literally at the foot of the Eiffel Tower made it pretty easy to fall in love!)

The amazing view from outside our hotel

Some highlights of the city were:

1. Hanging out by the Eiffel Tower: AKA Eating ice cream by the Eiffel Tower… a lot! It was such a romantic setting, being surrounded by people picnicking, drinking champagne, and just having an all around great time 24/7!

2. Admiring the Eiffel Tower: If you look through my photos, you might wonder whether I was playing a game of ’how many times can I photograph the Eiffel Tower in four days?’ I wasn’t… or maybe, I was! ;) As cliche as it may be (and I do wish we could come across as a little edgier in our taste), we loooved the Eiffel Tower!

3. Going to the top of the Eiffel Tower: Okay, I promise I won’t say Eiffel Tower again after this! We took the elevator to the top and the stairs on our way down! We enjoyed the most beautiful views of Paris from up there and even loved taking the stairs, although my calves were dyyyying the next day!

4. City Bus Tour: Since we had enjoyed seeing London’s monuments by bus so much, we made sure not to miss out on the Paris bus tour included in our trip. It’s such a great way to understand the layout of the city and see the kinds of things you may want photos of, but may not have time to make a special visit to. Some highlights were Notre Dame, the Luxor Obelisk, Les Invalides, Champs-Elysees and of course, the Louis Vuitton flagship store!

5. The City by Night: My favorite Paris memory was seeing the city after dark! It’s definitely called “The City of Light” for a reason! We walked along the Seine, all the way from our hotel to the Louvre and back. (We also went to the Louvre during the day. The sheer mass of their collection is awe-inspiring and worth experiencing, but personally, I preferred the Musee d’Orsay across the street!) Anyways, if you ever go to Paris, make sure to experience it at night! It comes alive in the most wonderful way at about 10 PM!

Next up: the final part of my honeymoon series, and perhaps my favorite part of the whole trip, *drum roll*, the Palace of Versailles!

You totally made me want to go back to Paris! I heart that beautiful little city. You got fantastic pictures! When I went there, the Louis Vuitton store actually LOOKED like a LV suitcase. It was awesomeness. Can’t wait to see your pics of Versailles, one place I did not get to go!

Your posts bring me back… Did you buy anything at LV? I bought a purse and even though it was available in the States, I still get a kick out of the fact that I actually bought it in Paris.

I kinda hated Paris to be honest. While the sights were beautiful I just didn’t dig the pretension. I looooved the Palace of Versailles though. Can’t wait to relive it with your recap!

omg, you just made me soooo nostalgic for Paris!! Mr. E & I got engaged there back in 2006, and I’ve been dying to go back since! But Mr. E keeps saying there are so many other places we haven’t seen yet and should go to those places before going back to Paris. Boo!

It truly is the most romantic city…

@Aleanan: Thank you! The yellow dress and the polka dotted dress are from anthropologie and the bright floral one is from J.Crew!
@fromcharleston: Definitely! I hadn’t known about it sparkling on the hour until our waiter told us our first night! Loved it, we probably watched it sparkle five or six times!
@NYBride2Bee: No, I didn’t buy anything at LV in paris. I actually got a burberry jacket in london so that used up my souvenir budget! ;)

Hi Mrs. Turtle–I just read through all your posts for the first time and loved all of them! I was browsing through ETSY, looking for ring bowls and I saw one that made me think of you. Sorry–I can’t figure out how to private message the bees (is it possible?).

@cafegirl: How cute! Thank you for sharing that with me! It’s so encouraging to know that people actually enjoy my posts! :) (And P.S. The only way I see to PM bees is to click on “message” next to one of my comments!)

Hello Mrs. Turtle! I was wondering how you liked the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel Hotel? I have been researching hotels for my trip to Paris and have read some mixed reviews about it. Curious how your experience was… P.S. love your posts!!!

@iHEARTweddingbee: Hi! We loved staying at the Pullman Paris Tour Eiffel Hotel! Our stay there came in a package, so I’m not sure how much it costed per night. But the location alone is amazing. It’s surreal to step out of your hotel and be that close to the Eiffel Tower! Also, our room in London was so small and undecorated, that our room in Paris (large for Europe) felt like heaven when we got there! There is also a good FREE breakfast, which is always a plus. It feels a lot like an American hotel, because it was converted from a Hilton. Overall, I would highly recommend it! Thanks for following my posts! :)
