Mrs. Locket's Picture
Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).

Hanging on a Thread

August 20th, 2010 @ 6:55 pm by Mrs. Locket

Why, oh why, do I want to make my life difficult? It’s because I want our wedding to be full of all the little details that make for great discussions and photos. My newest craze are the ever-so-pretty paper garlands, banners, and buntings.

I’ve fallen hard for wanting to have these pretties dangling from the tent because I am worried without them our tent will be too plain Jane. I also love that they fit in with our wedding, offering a perfect vintage and rustic flare.

Check out these purple hearts by Etsy seller thegreengables (click for source):

The possibilities are endless and this is my problem! I want to delve into every possible option, but I doubt I will have the time to do them all. Yes I could buy them pre-made, but the costs would add up pretty quickly for a project that doesn’t seem too difficult.

I think that this is a project that Mr. L could actually lay his hands on, and I hope he will. I mean, how hard could it be for him to help cut out hearts and circles if I give him a template? Heck, maybe I could make it even easier and purchase a punch.

Do you think I am going nutty? I do have a lot on my plate, but think I can definitely stand to delegate this project to some helpers.

Did your FI help you out with any of your DIY projects?

I think this one is really delegate-able. Virtually idiot proof, if you get a good set of heart shaped stencils. Think I might join you!

I love those 3d book hearts!!!!! Adorable. Mr. L could definitely do this. Depending on the size, you might even be able to find a punch that does this. Easy peasy.

You can definitely have the Mr. do this one. But… it’s also o.k. to not do EVERY project on your list.

You don’t have to do everything you can think of. That’s a hard rule to learn when planning a wedding! Some of these are adorable, but I’d leave them aside unless you happen to have time on your hands. I’m sure your tent will be beautiful either way.

I have the same weakness as you- and I know I can only pick one garland/ bunting idea because otherwise there will be too much on my plate. But I love them all!

This would be super quick and easy if you had a epic six or cricut or something. Could you perhaps borrow one from a crafty friend?

I myself am having a garland addiction. But really, you should have seen Mr.E’s face when I pointed out that he could cut the pieces. It was full of shock and horror that I’d suggested he enter craft world!

If you need to cut a ton of hearts out, go to a scrapbook store and use the diecut machine. You’ll be glad you did.

I have the “Just Married” Banner from Earmark. I loved it! We draped it on our sweetheart table. I’d be willing to part with it and send it to you. I’ll remove the heart in the center since it has our initials but you can have the banner! It is Purple with lavendar. Message me if you are interested. I can mail it out asap… :)
