Mrs. Barrettes's Picture
Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

Spotlight on Baby Barrettes

August 20th, 2010 @ 10:18 am by Mrs. Barrettes

Baby Barrettes is a really cool dude. He loves the beach and is always the first one in the water. He has more human friends than dog friends, and we’re really excited to introduce him to all of his furry relatives in the USA. His favorite treats are grapes, although he will totally eat broccoli. We let him grow out his hair as long as he wanted, but now with the wedding coming up we have been dog-scaping him.

I love when he is less hairy, and I have even started cutting back the neck hair. It’s so slimming! I can’t find any photos of him really trimmed down, but I’m sure you’ll be seeing it soon enough. He is a chihuahua/pomeranian mix, and that pom hair really grows if we let it.

Seriously, how cute does our little ring-bearer look in his tux? We’re “practicing” for the big day by wearing it in increasing increments of time. I previously put it on him twice, but today I put it on and tried to leave it for as long as he had the patience for it. After he finished his treat, he just sat there on the floor and didn’t move for five minutes! No running around, no puppy play, he just sat there and kept looking at me like, “Lady! How long do I have to do this?”

It takes him a while to wake up in the morning, and he always checks Facebook before breakfast.

At 17 months old, he is full grown at a whopping 8.4 pounds. As an eight week old, his fur was black and he was two pounds.

So there you have it. He’s our spoiled, furry son and a million pounds of fun!

Is your pet involved in your wedding? What are you doing about “wedding wear”?

Aw your puppy is so cute! Pets can be so tolerant. As a joke, I asked my FH if we can dress up our two cats in a top hat and veil and use them as our picture for the STD’s. He wasn’t too pleased hehe
Aren’t grapes bad for dogs?

Baby Barrettes is adorable!! FYI, dogs really shouldn’t eat grapes.. it can cause renal failure: http://www.snopes.com/critters/crusader/raisins.asp

He’s very cute! Though grapes are lethal to dogs… They are just as bad a chocolate and onions.

I so wish we could! Our furbaby is the center of our world! He just has an unfortunate nervous stomach and being around all those people in a new place would… not have good results. I know he wishes us well though! :)

He’s adorable and I love that dark nose of his! I wish we could have our two dogs in the wedding! Yeah, sorry I know you didn’t post to have a dog lecture, but grapes are bad for them. :\
Carrots and apples (sans seeds) are okay for a crunchy snack.

Not to keep harping on the same subject…but grapes are bad for dogs… it doesn’t take many to make them sick…esp for a little guy like yours.. Raisins are also bad. Miss Kermie had some good suggestions… also green beans are good treats too:) Super cute pup though!
