My beach house dreams came true and the week before the wedding I set off for our little rented house in Narragansett, accompanied by my sister and two good friends with the patience and vacation time necessary to oblige this bride-to-be.
We spent the week running last-minute wedding errands: meetings with the florist, DJ, and photographer, adjusting the seating chart, buying extra tulle, and tying ribbons on things.
Haha, just kidding!
The only wedding activity we did involved some phone calls and logistics, as well as dropping off stuff at the caterer’s house. And then we went on a wine tour. The rest of the week involved my favorite things: sleeping in, jogs on the beach, reading books on the balcony, grilling stuff, eating ice cream, and spending rainy mornings at a cafe with bagels and internet access.
It’s important to diet the week before your big special day:

I put my friends to work immediately. No time for dilly-dallying!

Our beach house rental was outfitted with the remnants of college-aged renters. Nothing says “Winter Formal” like a plastic beer cup!

A busy night:

What do you suppose they’re working on? Seating charts? Favor tags? Programs? Facebook?

We had absolutely no down-time. None.

This wine tour was strictly wedding-related. As was the ensuing Top Model photoshoot.

Mr. PH arrived on Wednesday and enjoyed his first day off since…February (really!). You might be wondering if the clock behind him reading 10:30 is a.m. or p.m. I’ll let you decide.

It was good to see Mr. Potato Head! We checked out our venue and dropped some stuff off.

The week went by so quickly. I know everyone says the week before your wedding is a stressful mess, but I gotta say… ours was really awesome. I tried to savor it all, every little moment: the cloudy days; the lingering brunches; the four separate times I watched the premiere of MTV’s “You’re Cut Off” (Why?? It was always on TV!); the warble of that damn bird outside my window that woke me up every morning; the gathering excitement. Soon, after many homemade pizzas, bottles of wine, afternoons on the deck, and phone calls with vendors, it was time. Family and out of town friends began to arrive, and all this wedding business began to get real.
