Mrs. Argyle, St. Louis Age and Occupation: 24, Project Coordinator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Pilot Engagement Date: February 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Jewel Box in Forest Park and Windows on Washington About Me: I'm a true Midwestern girl (born and raised), lover of red wine, reality TV and the entire J.Crew catalog. I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Shower Time!

August 23rd, 2010 @ 12:11 pm by Mrs. Argyle

We ended up having two showers, mostly due to our crazy schedules. That, and the fact that the Mr. and I are from different towns. Our first shower was held in St. Louis, and hosted by my fabulous bridesmaids and some family friends. We opted for a couple’s shower, so we could both attend, and feel more comfortable.

The soiree was catered by the fab Pasta House (one of many St. Louis traditions), desserts provided by my bridesmaids, and the company by family and friends. Mom Argyle, with help from Mr. A’s mom, put together two memory boards with photos from throughout our childhood to provide guests with a little entertainment.

The Argyles before we open our gifts! We received some great gifts from everyone, but my favorite is definitely the Dyson vacuum. It was also the first gift I opened as soon as we got home (as in the same night).

Our second shower took place in Springfield, IL, which is Mr. A’s hometown. His mom put together a guest list that consisted of mostly his family, and some family friends, and had the shower catered by a local caterer.

We received some monogrammed towels!

And matching aprons (of which Mr. A seems obviously thrilled).

And enjoyed some delish cake!

We are forever grateful for the family and friends who not only helped to plan our showers, but were there to help us celebrate.

Did you have more than one shower? Were they similar or totally different?

Very cool! I like the idea of a couples shower. I am having two showers - one in Texas with all the friends, and the other in Illinois with all the family. My first was yesterday in Texas and it was a Mexican fiesta theme with great colorful tex-mex decorations, a fajita bar, chips with queso, guac and salsa and margarita pie for dessert. My second will be a tea party. Two completely different themes!

Dyson changed my life! :)

I like the idea of a couples shower! I hadn’t thought of that and Mr. Barrettes has been wondering what he’s going to do with himself while I get showered in NYC. I’ll see if he’s into just coming with me ;)

We have the Dyson Animal and LOVE it! I just had one shower, and it wasn’t co-ed. I would have preferred to have FI there with me. It didn’t feel right for him not to be included.

Two showers = double the cake = WIN. Also, I hope we get a vacuum.

We are having our couples shower this weekend…I am a bit worried it won’t be too big since it was put together late in the game and many people couldn’t make it. Either way I am hoping it will be fun!

(((Springfield)))

I had two - polar opposites of each other. One was very traditional, punch & presents. The other was very laidback, at a Mexican restaurant, queso and presents.

I loved both, but then again I just dig being the center of attention. : )

@rawrkitty1022: It’s fun when both are completely different - makes for unique experiences.

@airythia: Insanely easy to use.

@Mermaid1082: Oh girl. Also, quite jealous of your Mexican fiesta.
