About Mrs. French Fries

Soon, our church wedding coordinators came into the bride’s room and told us that it was time for the bridesmaids to line up for the processional. I was ushered into the hallway and out of view behind the church sanctuary. Everything at this moment felt like someone pushed “fast forward”. Things were moving so quickly and before I knew it,—and luckily, before I had much time to get nervous—the wedding party had gotten into order and was ready to process down the aisle.

The strains of “Canon in D” began to filter out into the sanctuary, and I knew that it was time. My bridesmaids walked in one by one to the groomsmen lined up at the front of the church.

They were followed by my adorable flower girl niece, carried by my brother-in-law (she’s not quite ready to walk yet!).

Our other flower girl and our ring bearer, Mr. FF’s niece and nephew, walked hand in hand down the aisle—I couldn’t see them processing, but everyone told me that they did a fantastic job.

Then, the organist began to play Canon just a little bit louder, which was the cue for my dad and me to make our entrance. I took a deep breath…

…took my dad’s arm, and we walked.

This is my “I’m trying not to cry” face, BTW.

I was sure that on the day of the wedding, with all of the emotion of the day, I would most likely cry. I had prepared myself for it, and embraced it—I told myself that I wanted to be present in the moment on our wedding day, even if that meant tears. As my father and I entered the church I got a little bit choked up, but I didn’t cry. Mostly I remember looking at Mr. FF and thinking about how handsome he looked and how happy I was.

This is Mr. FF’s “I’m trying not to cry” face.

Once we got to the front of the church, my dad told me he loved me and gave me kisses on each cheek. He shook Mr. FF’s hand, and gave me a hug.

Mr. FF and I then turned and made our way to the altar to become man and wife.

Miss a chapter?

First, we drove all of our stuff to our venue.
Then, I freaked about the weather forecast.
Next, we rehearsed.
We had a yummy rehearsal dinner!
The girls got glam.
We both got dressed and ready to rock and roll.

Awwww, the walk down the aisle really is so incredibly emotional, isn’t it? I cried a little bit too but nearly as much as I thought I would! You look beautiful!

Stunning! Absolutely gorgeous!! I’m mentally preparing myself for the walk down the aisle with my mom! I’m not a crier by any means, but I’m a little nervous about this! I have a really ugly “cry face” too!

I also thought I’d do a good bit of open weeping during our wedding, but I underestimated the power of the instinct not to break down in front of a crowd of people who are all looking at you. I definitely had some serious lower lip quivering going on when I walked down the aisle but managed to hold it in. I think it’s funny that both me and my husband were crying during that moment, but in the photos and video you can’t tell because we were working so hard to hold it back! Your flower girls are adorable btw.

Thanks, everyone! :)
@bRooklynRocks: I made the pomanders myself. I wrote a few posts on them, back in my archives if you’re curious!
@aimee8956: Actually, we got it from Target of all places! It was an Easter dress that was on clearance. My niece was growing so quickly that we couldn’t get anything too far in advance, and it worked perfectly.
