Mrs. Hippo's Picture
Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
About Mrs. Hippo

As I mentioned here, I am having nine women in my bridal party—four bridesmaids and five in the house party. Eight of the nine women know each other very, very well. The ninth is my sister and the MOH. I figured that since my sister doesn’t really know the other women and they don’t really know her, it would be good to share everyone’s contact information so that they could be in touch with each other if they wanted or needed to. Of course, the easiest way to do this would be a simple e-mail, but oh no…that’s not DIY fun, now, is it??!

I designed this simple 5″ x 7″ card in Microsoft Publisher and printed it out on metallic card stock. It includes our wedding logo and a letter to the bridal party on the left, and the contact information for the bridesmaids and house party members on the right. Easy peasy!

So cute! My BMs (all 10 of them!) are all over the world and don’t know each other well, but I did design a Publisher newsletter to send out electronically.

Very cute! I did something similar for my BMs since they didn’t all know one another and all live in different states.

Very cute idea! I didn’t do anything, but my bridesmaids decided to friend each other on facebook. Two of my bridesmaids already knew each other (my best friend from childhood and my little sister) but they both added my future SIL (my third bridesmaid). We have a private facebook group, and it’s made things really easy for posting dress ideas, accessories and things of that nature.

Nice idea! I did an email to introduce my 7 bridesmaids who are located in 5 different cities, most of whom do not really know each other. I included where each of them lives and what they do for a little background, and attached a picture of me with each maid, that way they could all start to put faces to names. I had previously mailed each bridesmaid the picture I attached of her and me in a frame with a card asking her to be my bridesmaid.

What a great idea, wish I had thought of this! Luckily all my BMs are on my Facebook so it does help with the communication and they can all see the other BMs.

[...] mentioned the bridesmaids’ letters I am sending out here, but I needed a way to include a return address on the envelopes, which are a metallic dark blue. [...]
