About Mrs. Zebra

Yesaaaa!

August 27th, 2010 @ 9:10 am by Mrs. Zebra

Epic find last night! Epic find, indeed. My mother’s dinosaur of a PC (roar!) sucks. I’m a Mac; converted in college and, dammit, I won’t go back. Anywho, our hugetastic family reunion needs invitations, and my tragically technically un-savvy mother needed help in designing the invites. “You can put this picture on the computer?” “Yes, Ma…eleven-year-old technology.” I digress.

There was a small period of time in between my shitatonic Dell hitting the fan, wiping out on its 180 back down to the floor, and when I received my shining beacon of technology. I had to upload my gazillions of pictures that I took onto Mom’s dinosaur. Unfortunately, on a computer feng shui attack I had one day, I deleted a ton of programs (including the sound…whoops!), thereby solidifying the computer’s appointment with the computer man. I thought my pictures were lost and gone for-ev-er, but last night I found them! As I was waiting for Mom’s picture to scan…I went a-searching through the computer. All of my England 2007 pictures were there! Woooo hooooo! I can finally replace the pixelated picture in my living room with the real deal, folks! Why is this wedding related, you ask? For the damn table “numbers.” I know I have mentioned these before but have yet to fully explain what they are. I’m sure you can figure it out by the name, though.

It all started when I attended my friend’s wedding. Not only did I attend…but I was the WEDDING DRESS DESIGNER. That’s right…I made her dress. Wanna see? (Yay for shameless self promotion!)

We met through theater. Actually, we met through friends, but suffice it to say we be tight because of theater. Her table numbers were pictures of different plays. I forget which table we were at. Maybe “Hello, Dolly!” IDK. I liked the idea so much that I decided to put a little spin on it. Rather than shows, I was going to use different placed Folly G and I have been.* We travel around pretty extensively, and I figured that we’d have more than enough pictures for 30 tables. Well, I lost my England pictures from our 2007 trip, and that wiped out a good percentage…Canterbury, Stratford, Sherwood Forest, London, York, Leeds…you get the picture. We are not going back to some of these places when we return. Hi! My name is SUPER EXCITED! Now I can start the calligraphy on them.

*I take no originality credit for thinking of this idea because we attended another friend’s wedding last fall, and she did the same thing. :) We were at Fenway Park!

I deleted my sound too and haven’t figured out how to fix it! Boyfriend is an avid Widespread Panic (popular southern jam band) fan and is so puzzled as to why he can’t hear the live music streams anymore. I always play dumb and just say “that’s weird I wonder where the sound is”.

I hate when my computer crashes, I never back up and wind up losing all my pictures that aren’t on FB or still on my camera.

I think we are gonna do travel table numbers too. Can’t wait to see how yours turn out!

Glad you got your photos back! What a nice surprise. I was once the victim of a PC dump, but unfortunately I never recovered the stuff I lost.

@Mrs. Pin Cushion: Wasn’t easy. Longest.Summer.of.my.Life. Self inflicted guilt. She was the easiest bride to work with ever.

@Miss Glasses: I got really paranoid a few weeks ago and had to run to Target for an external hard drive. I’ve read one too many Bee posts that start with “if I only backed up…”
@JenBabe: You need an illegit computer friend!
@jordynrose: I feel your pain. Evil external hard drive, finals 2008. UGH!
@Miss Elephant: I can’t wait to see how yours come out!

My sister did this at her wedding too. To put her own spin on it, she included fun facts about each place, she tried to do 2 realted to the couple and the place and a few about the place itself. People loved it!

I LOVE THAT IDEA! Oh my gosh, this is becoming a drug, reading everyone’s posts… so many great inspirations!

Also, I have been there before with the computer madness. There’s nothing like the feeling you get when you realize everything is not ruined forever after all.
