Mrs. Barrettes's Picture
Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!
About Mrs. Barrettes

Just in the Nick of Time!

August 27th, 2010 @ 2:27 pm by Mrs. Barrettes

OMG, I thought we were going to leave Guam without having received our wedding rings! I ordered them from Etsy and let the seller know when we would be leaving—she mailed them out with about 4 days to spare! I loved these rings the minute I saw them (over a year ago), and messaged the seller personally when I saw her shop was recently closed. I NEEDED those rings! She was more than happy to work with me.

My point-and-shoot doesn’t do them justice. The colors are so vibrant! I fell in love with the purple band, but Mr. Barrettes couldn’t be convinced to wear purple so he opted for the blue.

We’re still matchy, but our own individualities are in there. The engraving reads, “All buttoned up. 10.10.10″. Mr. Barrettes used that phrase to tell a friend we’d become engaged and it has stuck ever since. My ring is only 3mm and the engraving is so teeny-tiny, it’s just barely legible. Amazing. How’d they do that? Here is a better shot of mine:

OK, so you can barely see it in the photo, but I will have our photog get some ring shots for sure. I probably should have made sure it looked good with my engagement ring, but sometimes I just get a wild hair and suffer the consequences later. Thankfully, I love them together!

The titanium of the band is slightly darker than my e-ring setting, but it sort of goes with our whole color theme anyway. We have decided that we will upgrade our wedding bands as our marriage grows, as long as they’re always somewhat similar.

Did you and your spouse choose different rings? Do you plan on changing rings throughout the years?

they look great! thank goodness you got them in time. We’ve got a similar sorta matchy thing going on too. Not sure we’ll change them, but I may ask for an anniversary band down the line ;)

Ours match. He wanted one that matched mine so his is the same style just wider. Thankfully I had always wanted a plain band (no diamonds but miligrain edges) just so that I wouldn’t be worried about wearing it anywhere or doing anything with it on like I do now when gardening with my e ring. We both agreed that down the road it would be nice for me to get a band with diamonds to add to the mix but I am happy that no matter what I am doing I will feel comfortable wearing my wedding band.

Really cool! Just be careful with the two metals rubbing together - they are different hardnesses, and the titanium could rub a ridge into the settings of your e-ring.

Wow that’s pretty cool, I never knew they could color the inside!

We had a matching set, with different engraving. We’ll be getting a titanium pair for when we’re traveling to rougher places, just in case.

Mine is a Zoe & Doyle too. I’m glad yours got there on time! It took them over 4 months to get mine to me. :( Luckily I ordered it with plenty of time to spare.

An elaborate wedding band was something that hit the budget floor so we opted for very simple bands - his white gold , mine white gold with five tiny diamonds scattered around. They were very inexpensive and we said that we would upgrade on our fifth anniversary. But now that I have the band with my e-ring , I love it! I don’t think I will ever upgrade

We have changed rings already. We used a couple when we got married by law and our new set 4 years later when we got married in a mix culture ceremony of Wicca, Buddhist and Corpse Bride (loooved that movie) ceremony. I plan weddings for a living so we decided i like parties so much we will have a “wedding” every few years (he is a LOVELY man hahaha) so next stop is when we turn 10 years married (coming in about 5 years) and i have already decided in a cocktail garden party hahaha and we will change rings then too

cool rings! We opted for something a little funky, tungsten with two black epoxy rings.

Ugh, the rings are such a biiiiiig headache right now! We didn’t find anything in Bangkok so we still need to get something and we are two months out. Aaaaarg! I like that yours are simple and you can add to them!

I’ve never seen anything like these! They are so unique. And I love the phrase “all buttoned up”–very cute.
