I am DIYing my hair and makeup for our big day. I know a lot can go wrong, but my girlfriends are going to help me.

My friends aren’t strangers to glam. They are kinda Barbie dolls. Nights out in Hollywood are nothing: outfits, hair, makeup—always PERFECT. One of my best friends has a MAC palette that would rival any pro. Between us, we have a million different shades of lip gloss and blush, as well as a billion cans of hairspray and curling irons. I know we can do something good the day of.
For my day-to-day look, I don’t wear makeup or do my hair at all. I put on makeup and curl my hair only when I go out on a date with Mr. Glasses or for a girls night out, and even then I don’t really pile it on. So for our wedding day, I want to look like me only…prettier.
For inspiration, I look to very naturally pretty celebs who don’t cake on the makeup. I can think of two specifically.

I love Vanessa Hudgens. She’s got long, loose, wavy hair that looks effortless yet glamorous. She always has glowing skin, highlighted cheekbones, and a brown smokey eye for eyeshadow. She is gorgeous, and I am thinking about copying her look.

Lauren Conrad never misses. She is gorgeous every time, without being over the top. She’s got dewy skin and always does this really cute thing with her eyeliner where she flicks it upward around the outer edge to create this cute, angelic look. She keeps her hair long and flowing with a slight curl. Love it.
As you can see, I favor the girl-next-door look. No chignons, curly updos, or dramatic eyeshadow here. I am a little nervous about my hair, though. I’m prone to frizz and pouf, so I’m worried that as the night goes on, my style may go from cool Southern California inspired to, well, a hot mess. So I might call a blowout specialist.
I want the perfect blowout, so if I’ve got time, I’m thinking of grabbing some of my girlfriends and heading to Drybar in Brentwood the morning of our wedding. For $35, they’ll give you a great wash and blowout. They even have a menu of blowouts:

They describe the Mai Tai blowout as “messy and beachy,” and hey, that’s what I want! For $75, they’ll even come to my house!
Drybars are popping up all over the place, so if you are thinking of going casually cool for your wedding day, I recommend a good Yelp! to see if there’s a good one in your area. And big ups to Mrs. Meatball for letting me know about this phenomenon.
BRB, gonna go look at some makeup videos on YouTube…
What celeb style do you take inspiration from? What is your hair and makeup style going to be like on your wedding day?
