Matrimonial Manolos

August 30th, 2010 @ 1:35 pm by Mrs. Zebra

I have been saying for.ev.er. that I would buy myself a beautiful pair of designer shoes for my wedding. Honestly, when else will I be able to buy a pair of designer shoes? This was around the time of Carrie Bradshaw FALSELY stating that Manolos are around $500. Dear Carrie, riddle me this: why’d you make me (and every other girl in the world) fall in love with these $1000 suckers? Huh? HUH!?

Don’t worry, I will forgive Carrie and her stylist…someday. It is true, however, about how much of an impact these shoes had and still have on the wedding world. Mr. Blahnik even named them “Something Blue.” Damn you! You’re appealing to all aspects of my senses, you! Unfortunately, I don’t have the budget for a videographer-priced pair o’ shoes, so I shall continue to lust…and hope I have a rich friend who reads this post. ;0)

Zebra, there’s no way you just wrote an entire post about shoes you cant afford, did you? No. I’m writing because I’m SOINLOVE with Sex and the City!! Yahoo! Not only do the girls give me the best company while sewing, but it is infinite style inspiration. Did you ever think someone, anyone, could have brought back studded belts? And, I’m looking, right now, at a wedding magazine with a dress that has flower applique over the shoulder…S&TC! All of it. Just try not to be influenced. I dares ya!

Holy S&TC inspiration porn coming at you in 5…4…3…2…

I love SATC - but also wanted to tell you that there’s a similar pair of shoes to the “something blue” for a fraction of the price by Martinez Valero - they’re called the “Zenith” - hope this helps!!

SATC hands down.
In fact, I asked FI if he had any worries about being married and he replied “nope, well, other than watching those stupid SATC DVDs every night.” :)

Wait!!! I just bought an ABSOLUTELY fabulous pair of knockoffs for my best friend’s wedding, which was this past Saturday… she wore them the whole night and they were totally comfortable and looked exactly like the real thing… and they were only $135!!! I bought them through this link http://www.manoloblahnikheels.org/manolo-blahnik-pumps-c-33/manolo-blahnik-something-blue-satin-pump-p-335. i would 100% recommend it!!

Thank you for all the suggestions ladies! I have a little ethics issue with knockoffs. (Its the designer in me.) I try not to purchase the obvious replicas. I know, I know, I’m slightly anal. I will continue to look for the perfect pair! My new recent addiction is Dancing with the Stars. Guilty pleasure, fo sho.

My guilty pleasure is Gilmore Girls. And why have knock offs when you wanted the real thing? I’ll keep my eyes open for any brand shoe sales for you, girl!

Mmmm… Gotta love SATC! You mention shoes though, and I automatically think Nordstrom. Have you stopped by and checked out what they have? The shoe clearance event is also going on right now, so it’s worth a visit… even if a store doesn’t have your size but you find something you love, they can often order it for you from another location (and fo free, so that means more money for Michaels!)

And in the first movie, how many times does she wear that studded belt and those shoes (in the picture)? Like a million.

@Mrs. Dumpling: BFFLS! Actually I grabbed the tri-picture there off a website debating why she wore those shoes so much in the movie.
