Mrs. Sand Dollar's Picture
Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: MacLean Park About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
About Mrs. Sand Dollar

Once we dusted off our work clothes, it was time to chow down! Since all my ladies had to travel upwards of 3 hours, we decided to keep things simple and cook for ourselves. And oh my goodness, what a good choice that was! We ate Bestie C’s homemade lasagna and salad…

and then Bridesmaid N made what was possibly the best dessert ever.

Tiramisu cupcakes!

And Bridesmaid S gifted me with food, which is totally the way to this gal’s heart. I heart cannoli like nobody’s business, so I was in heaven!

Yum-O! And what bachelorette is complete without a little lingerie? My fab ladies treated me to a lingerie shower! We played “Guess the Panty” and I had to answer questions about Mr. SD to get to open presents. I got 6 out of 10. D is for Diploma, right? :)

We had a couple of tuckered out guests…

But we refueled Sand Dollar style!

Mmmmm…I love me some strawberry daiquiris! We had to take a few prom glamour shots in front of the fireplace…

Then break in the fridge I had chalkboard painted just the day before!

Now it was time to put on our party hats…

And hit the dance hall! We spent the rest of the evening two-steppin’ and practicing for the big day. Then we hit up a party Mr. SD was at and let the good times roll all night!

What kind of shenanigans did you get up to on your bachelorette? Did you eat out or slave-drive your ladies to the bone and make them cook for you, too?

Looks like fun!
But ah, did you paint your fridge with chalkboard paint? That’s awesome but… I hope it wasn’t new… because all my practical stuffy side is saying right now is “she will never be able to re-sell that!” and “oh my goodness, I bet the warranty is void now!”

My sister and I do Prom pictures every chance we get. They’re so much fun. I never thought anyone else did them though.

Chalkboard fridge=AMAZING!! Holy moly I LOVE IT! haha your bachelorette looks awesome too, but I can’t stop thinking about that FRIDGE! Did you have to prep it in any way or did you just paint it with the chalkboard paint?

@Miss Socks: No prep required. It was just a hand-me-down white fridge, nothing special. I cracked open a pint of paint and went to town! I rolled on 4 coats, with about 15 minutes in between (not realizing the can says 24 hrs. between each coat, but it turned out fine!). It was a super fun way to gussy up a boring refrigerator :)

Awesome! I might have to mention this post to the Mr….though he’ll probably say that we’re not staying in our house long enough to warrant a chalkboard fridge and we probably won’t take it with us :-( I’ll still try though!

Power tools yesterday, a chalkboard fridge today….you are SO handy! I love seeing all the little “renovations” you’ve been doing to your house, do you have a blog for all that? I would love to add it to my google reader!! Your bachelorette party looks so fun— those tiramisu cupcakes look delicious!
