Forgive Me

August 31st, 2010 @ 2:05 pm by Mrs. Zebra

OK, its confession time. We all have our neuroses, so I’m hoping you don’t judge me.

Marcy D’Arcy is to the dentist what I am to my jeweler.

Forgive Me : wedding providence rings Marcy

I love a sparkly ring, what can I say?

I go to get it cleaned slightly more often than recommended. It doesn’t help that the staff at my jeweler is so wonderful and doesn’t look at me like “here comes that crazy lady who cleans her ring once a month. It also doesn’t help that they are so speedy, making a lunch break trip VERY easy.

Will you still have me?

There’s nothing like a sparkly ring! I try to stop by our jewelry store once a month or so to keep it shining. They don’t polish it though, which wears down the metal, instead they use the ultrasonic cleaner.

Nothing wrong with that - they offer free cleaning for life, so we might as well get our money’s worth!

Miss Zebra I work in the ophthalmology department at a clinic and we have an industrial ultrasonic cleaner to clean glasses with that does a BEAUTIFUL job on diamond rings as well. I have you beat I give in to the temptation to clean at least once a week!

Hubs bought me a $50 steam cleaner for the house to satisfy my need to clean in between trips to the store. I do not judge.

I clean my ring once a week at home, but there’s nothing like a good clean from the jeweler! I’m heading after work today ;-)

Nothing beats a clean ring. It just sparkles so much more afterward. I think once a month is totally reasonable.

I know how you feel!

I personally didn’t clean my ring as much at first, and after a few weeks of my summer internship (I was doing Visual Display at Anthropologie, so lots of painting/staining/building) my ring was looking pretty sad.

When I told FI that I was going to buy jewelry cleaner, his reply was “Won’t that void the warranty?”

Silly FI. He thought that I was only allowed to get it cleaned every 6 months when I have my bi-annual inspection. I assured him that it’s ok, and that you’re supposed to clean it.

Now it’s something I do every week or so. I still haven’t gotten it to the jewelry store for a real cleaning, but my inspection/cleaning is next month, so I’m pretty excited to see it after that :)

Haha I just got my ring cleaned for the first time today (got engaged about a month ago). I couldn’t believe how different my ring looked! I think I’m hooked!

I’m a dental hygienist and we use an ultrasonic cleaner to shake off debris from our instruments. It is not rare to see a ziplock bag inside with someone’s jewelry. =) I clean mine once a month.

To top it off, I have an at home cleaner that I use once a week to remove the residue from lotions. I’m obsessed!

I need an ultrasonic cleaner! Damn you girls are lucky. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who likes a clean ring!

I love the look of a clean ring. FI has offered to bring it into the jewelry store the day before the wedding to have it cleaned since it is so sparkely,
