Mrs. Jellyfish's Picture
Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot Engagement Date: February 21, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!
About Mrs. Jellyfish

*Please See Other Ring

August 31st, 2010 @ 6:14 pm by Mrs. Jellyfish

While shopping for a wedding band, I was initially hesitant about getting an eternity-style band because most eternity bands are not engraveable. I’m pretty sentimental, so engraving was a must (plus, how else is Mr. Jelly supposed to remember our anniversary each year??). Even though I ultimately decided on an eternity band, I still wanted to have it engraved. My wedding band has about 5 mm of engraveable space on the inside—enough to fit 3–4 characters. One day, I was brainstorming what I could engrave into my band (Maybe my new initials? Maybe M+G?) when Papa Jelly jokingly said, “maybe you should just put an asterisk in there, and then continue the thought on Mr. Jelly’s band.”

(Pause) “Wait a second…that’s perfect! I’m going to do that.”

“Um, I was just joking…” said Papa Jelly. But it was too late; I had already fallen in love with the idea.

So, as of yesterday, the inside of my wedding band now contains an asterisk: “*” and the inside of Mr. Jelly’s says “*Mr. & Mrs. Jelly 9-5-10.” Well, actually, it doesn’t say our real names but our pet names for one another, which are just too ridiculous and corny for me to post here, but some of you may be able to read one of them if you look closely.

I love our engravings! They’re like a little inside joke between me and the Mr., they’re kinda quirky, and they’re 100% us!

What did you engrave inside your wedding bands? Please share—I love to hear all the different possibilities!

Oh that’s such a cute idea! I love that! We probably won’t be engraving my ring because it’s SO tiny, and Mr. Cardy’s ring has my fingerprint in it! :)

I love it!!! So cute. I am likely skipping the engraving though b/c I would have no idea what to write and my ring is tiny.

If we had nicknames I would totally do it: “Marshmallow and Lily Pad, 10/1/10″ :)

So cute! And I’m probably TOTALLY wrong but from my dirty computer monitor it looks like one of the names is poop :)

Cute! I’m not sure it’s true, though, that most eternity bands are not engraveable. Mine is not a complete eternity band, but the engraving is on the portion that has diamonds on the reverse side. I think it depends on how the diamonds are set.

Mine is the classic “ABC to XYZ 7-24-10″ (our initials and wedding date, duh.)

That’s pretty cool. I think one of them says Pooky? Not sure. It’s a really cute idea though.

@eeper: Love love love How I Met Your Mother!
@Mrs. Nachos: Haha no, it’s not poop, but @SandraMarie_1986: got it right - it’s Pooky.

That is so cute! We couldn’t engrave Mr. E’s because of the type of material, but mine has one of our favorite sayings “love you more”.

We decided that we would engrave a message to one another on our wedding bands on the birth of our first child, as a special “I still love you so much” treat :-)

My husband and I got our alternate wedding bands engraved. His nickname for me is Pigpen because apparently I make a huge mess when I eat. (I really do try to be neat and it’s not like I’m using my hands while saying Mmmm… Cookie but I still make a mess.) So, I started calling him Lucy because he was always telling me I need to clean my face and was being bossy. Therefore our rings say Love Lucy and Love Pigpen. We even entered our reception to Linus & Lucy. Lame. I know.

Jelly I love this idea! My FI has said that he wants to get my ring engraved but won’t tell me with what. I’m so intrigued!

I would love to have our inside joke engraved on our rings “Hello, kitty!” on mine, which were Mr. G’s first words to me, and “I’m a bear!” on Mr. G’s, which was my reply. Your band is way pretty and it’s sweet what you got engraved :D

@Miss Cardigan: @Miss Cardigan: can you tell me how you had them engrave a fingerprint? I totally want to do that for my tidy groom….he says that he can tell when I’ve touched his computer, his car, his ANYTHING…my fingerprints are everwhere. lol
