We are planning an intimate, all white with hints of black, vintage inspired wedding on the old sugar aqueducts of Jamaica, with 30 of our closest friends and family flying in to witness the occasion. We are not traditional by any means and will be doing things very differently. :)
Disclaimer: I understand that some things are out of your control and sometimes that divorce is the only option. You can’t always control what happens in your marriage and I don’t judge anyone that has had to go through it.
When you say, “I Do,” that means forever. You build dreams and goals and you work and live towards that. You do things together and see yourself as part of a team, so how do you stop all of that when you divorce? You change they way you think when you get married, the way you see things, the way you act, and live. So how do you just turn it off? You can’t.
Mr Handy has amazing grandparents. They have been together since they were 11 and 12 years old. They have been through it all, seen it all and are still loving each other. His grandmother and I are very close, we have had many long chats about marriage. She is an amazing woman and has so many words of wisdom that I thought I would share.
She told me that a good marriage is work, communication, and more work. Read more…

Mrs. Pin Cushion, Oakland, CAAge and Occupation: 25, Nurse Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, PhD StudentEngagement Date: November 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Radonich Ranch, Los GatosAbout Me: I'm the 3 Cs: crafty, creative and quirky (oh, that's not a C? Close enough!). I'm also a recycling fanatic, fluent in bad accents and I have the loudest laughter this side of the Mississippi. I have not just one sweet tooth, but a whole mouth full of sweet teeth. I cry at 97.4% of all movies I see, but my fiance's always there to hand me a tissue. My geek-chic fiance and I are planning a wedding full of color, cookies and handmade goodness and I can't wait to spill the beans on all of our crazy ideas!
Yesterday, UPS delivered an unassuming box to my front door. It was large and heavy (perhaps it felt extra heavy because my arms look like chicken legs, having not seen the inside of a gym in 27.8 months).
I opened the box to reveal a late arrival wedding gift. As I peeled back the wrapping and saw the contents on the gift, my heart began to pound. I felt lightheaded. Small sweat beads formed across my upper lip. Could it be? Were my eyes deceiving me?
(Can you, sneaky readers, tell what this fantastic gift might contain?)
I (lovingly) pried back the flaps of the next package….
Mrs. Husky, DenverAge and Occupation: 26, Systems AdministratorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid offEngagement Date: August 14, 2009Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: Rancho San CarlosAbout Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
I always thought Mr. Husky would seek the advice of my sister &/or mother when it came time to buy my ring. So I was sure to occasionally remind them both what I wanted:
A princess-cut solitaire set in platinum. Classic & beautiful. But when Mr. Husky proposed, he hadn’t sought the advice of either of them.
Instead, he’d picked out a ring that I wanted even more than the ring above: Read more…

Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NYAge and Occupation: 25, Research TechnicianFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the LawEngagement Date: June 15, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Heron Hill WineryAbout Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
Now that they’re off in the mail and our guests are finally starting to receive my li’l pretties, I can finally show off the final product! Read more…
Mrs. Starfish, Boston/NewportAge and Occupation: 25, Operations AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, SalesEngagement Date: October 8, 2008Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: The Atlantic Beach ClubAbout Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
Last Friday, I spent the night with the Starfish Girls on a treasure hunt! The Starfish Girls planned an amazing weekend and it kicked off with a very appropriate nautical theme.

About Me: When my best friend dragged me to a toga party in our freshmen year of college, I was not expecting to meet my future husband; but seven years later, here we are. I'm a crazy-organized planner at heart, and I am a great lover of random trivia, books, chocolate, blogs, new and exciting adventures, mockumentary-style television, and anything heavily flavored with bright orange fake cheese powder. We're planning a festive and fun mini-destination wedding in the place where we met: fabulous Pittsburgh, PA! I can't wait to marry the man I love!
I love that you are all such dedicated readers of my blog, but for this one, you have to scram. Unless you want to know what your thank-you gift is in advance, and that’s no fun. So, bye!

I could probably eat chips and queso every day but instead I eat popcorn. I use the word “awesome” way too much but I just can’t seem to stop myself. I am addicted to all things DIY and am planning what I call a Texas-Chic wedding. I love snuggling with my two adorable dogs and of course, my adorable fiance. I can’t wait 'til I can call him my husband some day! October 2010, here we come!

Lauren Clifford is an exceptional photographer. Her background in architecture gives her a very analytical eye & great spatial vision. We were very impressed with her and her company.
Mrs. Glasses, Tokyo/Los Angeles, CAAge and Occupation: 24, English teacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 27, English teacherEngagement Date: September 2008Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Parents' backyardAbout Me: I’m an expat living in Tokyo. I’ve been in Japan for almost three years now, where I met my fantastic English fiance. It’s time to leave Japan, so we are planning a fun, intimate, backyard ceremony back home in the suburbs of L.A. in October. Our wedding will be a mix of my love for food, beer, my Japanese culture, and Mr. G’s Englishness. We are on a tiny budget and DIYing almost everything!
We went to Daiso and got quite the haul. Daiso is a magical place where everything is 100 yen. That’s more than your weakling American dollar. Just kidding! It’s the equivalent of a 99-cent store.

I used to be a tomboy. Yup. All the way up to my senior year. My mom is not girlie at all, and I was raised with two brothers. So baggy jeans, t-shirts, and a ponytail was my everyday look.
Seven years later, I am no longer a tomboy and am quite girlie. I love girlie clothes, jewelry, handbags, shoes, shopping, etc.; everything BUT makeup. I still hate it. I hate the way it feels on my face, uck. It makes me feel like someone painted my face. My daily routine is wash face, apply mascara, and head for the door. It normally works for me, except for when I get stressed—I get monster Texas-size pimples on my chin. With me being a picker, it makes it worse.
I had a makeup trial this weekend. I wanted to make sure I did it in the heat so I could see if it would hold up all day being in Jamaica. Since it has been 95 degrees and up all week, I figured it would be the perfect time. Of course, my Texas-size pimple decided to join the party. Wanna see him?
Can you tell I am not a fan of early mornings on a weekend? Haha.
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San DiegoAge and Occupation: 28, ProfessorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, InstructorEngagement Date: December 20, 2008Wedding Date: August 2010Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood RestaurantAbout Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
Mama Hot Wings insisted I try to keep my makeup a secret until the day of as well, so go away Mister. Read more…
Mrs. Sand Dollar, HoustonAge and Occupation: 24, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical TechnicianEngagement Date: January 8, 2010Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: MacLean ParkAbout Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
In case you were worried I was having a total hick wedding, let me put your fears to bed.
My name is Sand Dollar, and I am having a Redneck Wedding. A no-holds-barred, beer-drinkin’, hell-raisin’, foot-stompin’ good time. There, I said it. It feels good to get it off my chest! Don’t get me wrong, I admire a chic black tie event as much as the next girl. And if my budget (or groom) allowed it, I would probably consider doing things a bit higher-end. But alas, it’s just not in the cards for us. (Have you heard enough clichés yet??)
