Mrs. Barrettes's Picture
Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

We have two mischievous Wire Fox Terriers with completely opposite personalities but with a shared love of uprooting anything in our garden. Our backyard garden includes everything from tomatoes and peppers to a fig tree, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries! I love cooking, indie music, and spending time in our wedding city of choice---Philly!

I Scream…

August 12th, 2010 @ 11:05 am by Mrs. Socks

Amazingly enough, dessert for the wedding hasn’t come up yet in my posts! For someone with as serious of a sweet tooth as I have, this is practically blasphemy.

I love all desserts. All of them. Cookies, cakes, pies, tarts, custards, donuts, mousse, pastries, pudding, candies, even those little wax bottle things everyone else seems to hate.

So whenever I see pictures of dessert at ANYONE’S wedding, I say “I want that!” Pie bar? Want it. Cookies? Want them. Cake table? Want it. Candy bar? Want it. Mini-desserts? Want, want, want.

August 12th, 2010 @ 10:39 am by Mrs. Starfish

When we started planning our starfish nuptials, I knew for sure I wanted to use starfish for the escort cards. I’ve seen quite a few photos of these and love the idea!

I know it may seem predictable, since we’ve used starfish on our save the dates and invitations, but I think it will be fun and new to our guests.

Mrs. Plaid, Austin Age and Occupation: 26, Pastry Chef Fiance's Age and Occupation: 34, Cabinetry Carpenter Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Kindred Oaks, Georgetown About Me: I am a Jersey girl born and raised but have since migrated to Texas and embraced its twang and Tex-Mex. I could probably eat chips and queso every day but instead I eat popcorn. I use the word “awesome” way too much but I just can’t seem to stop myself. I am addicted to all things DIY and am planning what I call a Texas-Chic wedding. I love snuggling with my two adorable dogs and of course, my adorable fiance. I can’t wait 'til I can call him my husband some day! October 2010, here we come!

Mrs. Locket's Picture
Mrs. Locket, Ithaca, NY Age and Occupation: 25, Research Technician Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, former Banker hoping to become an Officer of the Law Engagement Date: June 15, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heron Hill Winery About Me: I am a little bit of everything all rolled into one: A girly gal with rough edges---I love to get dolled up just as much as I enjoy throwing on some sneaks to toss a ball with Mr. Locket. My love for crafting and creating is quite apparent and I've been referred to as a Wonder Woman/Martha Stewart/Stepford Wife hybrid (yup, I'll take that as a compliment). I adore sewing, photography, sculpture, good eats (mmm tapas), baking, snugging and oh, pretty much everything in between (there's not much I dislike). I am super excited to be planning our vineyard wedding and couldn't be happier to be marrying Mr. Locket. We are a quirky, fun-loving couple residing in our college town with our two pups Maple and Molly. We love to go on hikes, visit our local dog park and to bask in the beauty of many of the local falls and gorges. We are an indecisive pair, but together we somehow manage to make up our minds (it's the easy stuff that's tricky).
About Mrs. Locket

Last time we talked about the Locket invites I was frustrated and unsure of how my YUDU was going to work out. In the end, due to time constraints and lack of patience, I ended up going in a different path and revamped my design. As you may have guessed, this isn’t the first time I’ve changed my invite design vision.

I enjoy the color pink, I'm obsessed with the Dior New Look and tulle, and I heart my level 80 paladin. I'm a sucker for bad TV, literary theory, and cakes of all persuasion. I also happen to be marrying the cutest closet nerd around! It's all about Bloomington for us because it's where we met -- on the college paper. If there's a theme for our small summertime wedding, it's Dior meets Dorothy Draper on a lark in Bloomington; think poofy, plus graphic prints, bold colors, and a whole lot of prettiness.

The bridal party portraits finished at 4:45… exactly 15 minutes before the wedding was supposed start. My maids and I hustled back to the suite to mop the sweat from our faces and try to salvage our makeup. I assume Ribs and his best man did the same, perhaps without the makeup.

I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. Mr. Lobster and I met in grad school and have been together ever since. I'm clueless about DIY but am an avid online shopper and love all things polka dots, stripes, and ruffles! When I'm not making wedding lists, you can find me looking for snacks, watching Gilmore Girls, or hanging out with Mr. Lobster and our new puppy Buddy! Mrs. Jellyfish's Picture
Mrs. Jellyfish, Pleasanton, CA Age and Occupation: 27, Law Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Air Force Pilot Engagement Date: February 21, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery About Me: In a nutshell, I’m the most optimistic worrywart you’ll ever meet. My family emigrated from Romania to San Jose, CA when I was 8, and I've been a Nor Cal girl ever since! My fiancé is also a Bay Area native, so it’s funny that we met at UCLA, as college freshmen living on the same floor (go Bruins!). Between his career as an Air Force pilot and my path to becoming a lawyer, our relationship has been anything but typical. We currently live together in Berkeley with our puppy Stinson. In addition to spending time with the loves of my life, I enjoy crafting, attempting complicated recipes, environmental law and non-law school reading (Us Weekly, anyone?). Follow along as I plan an elegant 200-person winery wedding, graduate law school, take the Bar exam, get married and get used to the always unpredictable but never boring life of a military spouse!

Wedding Band: Check!

August 11th, 2010 @ 6:16 pm by Mrs. Jellyfish

After 18 months of searching for the perfect wedding band, I finally found it! Or maybe I should say that I finally got it, because I found it early on in my search. Before I show it to you, let’s walk down memory lane and see some of the rings I considered along the way:

Wedding Band: Check! : wedding pleasanton rings 14 1

This is the first wedding band I ordered from Costco.com. It’s a 14K white gold band with bead set diamonds. I liked it okay, but it just wasn’t “the one”.

Months later, I ordered this band from Costco.com: an amazing deal at less than $600 and 1 full carat of diamonds. I loved how unique the design was and really thought this could be the one!

*Sigh* of Relief

*Sigh* of Relief : wedding guam officiant Sesra9 (source)

I was a little stressed out about who was going to officiate our ceremony. I didn’t want a friend or family member, although I did want an elder in our community and someone with a message to share. Even though we are marrying at a winery and not a church, I knew we wanted more of a traditional Christian ceremony. Not knowing what to do, I sort of pushed it to the back of the list, knowing that it would eventually get sorted out.

Mrs. Husky, Denver Age and Occupation: 26, Systems Administrator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid off Engagement Date: August 14, 2009 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: Rancho San Carlos About Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.

Ms Seahorse's Picture
Ms Seahorse, Boston Age and Occupation: 25, Veterinary Jane-of-all-trades Fiancee's Age and Occupation: 36, former non-profit fundraiser in search of something better Engagement Date: October 17, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Fort Pond Lodge About Me: By day I'm a cat-wrangler, vet tech assistant, pet-sitter, receptionist, and pre-vet student, but the rest of the time, I'm a former-roller-derby girl turned dedicated-wedding planner. I love reading, writing, bicycles, animals, roller skating, and antique-y things of all sorts. I'm a vegetarian who likes spicy foods, while Fiancee Seahorse is a meat eater who does not like spices. We live outside Boston with our menagerie: a fifty pound dog, a one-eyed, seventeen-toed, toothless cat, and a perfectly put together cat who has a penchant for pooping near rather than in her litter box. In addition to planning our small lake-side wedding, we enjoy running around with the puppy, playing board games (Scrabble, anyone?), having little adventures, talking about how we should really clean the house more, and maintaining our little garden of vegetables and wedding flowers.

The Living Room Takeover

August 11th, 2010 @ 5:05 pm by Ms Seahorse

I suspect that all couples have their road blocks, their little—or big—habits that drive the other person crazy. We’ve both done a lot of work, I think, on letting go of the really little things. Sometimes Fancee will leave the wet sponge in the sink, and I’ve mostly stopped saying anything about it; it’s easier to move the stupid sponge than to have a conversation about it. Sometimes I just rearrange things so that they *look* cleaner/neater instead of actually putting them away, and Fancee has just informed me that this is the thing she has stopped bringing up to me. Pick your battles, right?
