EEEEEEE! I am so excited about getting my very snazzy and pretty darn awesome wedding present. Nope, it’s not a fancy necklace or a pretty ring—it’s even better! Mr. Locket has had a plan in place for a while to purchase me a fancy new camera as my wedding gift.

I couldn't live without Pantone markers, fountain soda (3/4 diet, ¼ regular Coke), run-on sentences, or ridiculously oversized sunglasses. I will try to DIY almost anything and am just OCD enough to make most of it work. The Great Wedding-Band Debate

August 9th, 2010 @ 3:16 pm by Mrs. Plaid

I honestly haven’t given wedding bands too much thought. Well I guess that’s only true if your definition of “not much thought” is searching high and low on the internet for the perfect ring on at least ten separate occasions. But you know, I’m just saying…

What are the chances that Mr. Plaid pretty much knows what he wants and I don’t have a clue? I guess pretty big in my case, so without further ado, here’s what he’s thinking:

I love to dance regardless of who is watching, and enjoy a good laugh with my girls. I have a soft spot in my heart for planet Earth, my two dogs and my fiance. Fall is my favorite season (which is why we are marrying in September), but I love a warm summer day and the Colorado mountains in the winter. We are planning a modern soiree downtown, with lots of bold colors, and fun, eco-friendly elements.

Paper Gangsta: The Invitation

August 9th, 2010 @ 2:31 pm by Mrs. Argyle

Our invitations were one serious labor of love. I redesigned them multiple times, a little more satisfied with the design with each revision. And, with a welcomed epiphany earlier this year, we settled on a final design, one that was art deco enough for us both, but still minimalist.

We took somewhat of a different approach with our invites, opting to go a tad less formal with the wording. I love the formality of a wedding, but our wedding is no black-tie affair. For one, my parents like to go by their first names, and for the most part, Mr. A’s do as well. There are no “Mr. and Mrs. Argyles” in this family. And, because both parents so generously split the cost of the wedding, we made sure to include them both. And, my favorite part? They are red. A bold and gorgeous shade of red.

Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

Winter Honeymoon

Winter Honeymoon : wedding guam honeymoon Montana

For our honeymoon we decided that we want to go somewhere cold. Yes, cold. Snowy, frozen-eared, runny-nose cold. We live in Guam where it is 86 and sunny every day, so the thought of going somewhere else tropical isn’t all that appealing. I want to drink hot toddies and wear mittens and watch my new hubby carve it up on the slopes.

Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! My Online Relationship

August 9th, 2010 @ 1:30 pm by Mrs. Sand Dollar

With our photographer! I did two things the week after I got engaged. I booked MacLean Park, and put down the deposit for our photographer. You’d think by my quick action I had done a lot of research, but no sir. We found them and hired them pretty much on the same day. So who did we choose?

The Pros! I searched all over Google to find someone within our price range, which was under a thousand bucks. It’s really hard, you know. I didn’t want to get stuck with an uber traditional style, or someone who would take horrible photos of my shindig. Most got knocked out due to price alone. Then finally, the heavens parted and I found these.

Featured Reviews from the Hive: Rabbi Rim Meirowitz : wedding vendor reviews 12 1

Rabbi Rim was originally recommended to us as a rabbi in Massachusetts who was willing to perform weddings even if one of us was not Jewish. We checked out his site, and liked what we saw. He doesn’t take himself too seriously. At the same time, he seemed quite thoughtful and intelligent. When we contacted him, our initial favorable impressions were confirmed. He is very supportive of same-sex marriage, as his own stepdaughter was recently married to another woman. He is flexible on arrangements.

Finally Got Some Relief!

August 9th, 2010 @ 12:54 pm by Miss Handbag

Remember the ongoing saga of who is walking me down the isle? Brothers or Momma Handy?

After talking with my amazing momma, she told me that she wouldn’t feel comfortable walking me down. She isn’t the type of gal who likes attention and doesn’t want to feel like all eyes are on her. (Again, I have no idea where I came from! Haha.) She said that nothing would make her prouder than to see her three babies walking down the aisle. As much as I wanted her to walk with me, I knew that she wouldn’t feel OK with it…

So after pondering the thought of my handsome brothers walking me down in their amazing uniforms, looking sharp, and being proud of their only sister, it brought tears to my eyes. (What! I’m emotional!) So I called Big Brother Handy, and of course he said yes…

Then I e-mailed Lil Brother Handy and asked him… and his reply was…

Vineyard Picnic? Count Me In!

August 9th, 2010 @ 12:31 pm by Mrs. Socks

I don’t know about any of you, but some of my favorite engagement shoot series are from couples who use props and themes! When thinking of what to do for our engagement shoot, Mr. Socks and I were concerned about them looking a little too, “Look at the camera. Look at each other. Kiss. Look at each other. Kiss again” and on and on and on.

So in order to add visual interest to our photos, I started looking at inspiration and found that I was drawn to vineyard photos and picnic photos. So, what’s better than a picnic in a vineyard?

(The answer to that question is “nothing” in case you weren’t sure.)

I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.

That’s Not a Ring

August 9th, 2010 @ 11:43 am by Mrs. Knitting

As you may recall, Mr. Knitting and I struggled about what to do in terms of a wedding ring for him since he has huge knuckles and doesn’t like rings. As I learned from Weddingbee readers, the huge knuckle problem could have been easily overcome with a hinged ring. However, while Mr. K would have agreed to wear a wedding ring if I insisted, I wasn’t really comfortable with the idea that this symbol of our marriage would be something he didn’t really like and would be wearing only to please me. I also knew that I wouldn’t feel like he would be any less committed to our marriage if he’s not wearing a ring.

With all that in mind, we eventually decided on a wedding watch. Mr. K has never really owned a really nice watch and is always eyeing watches while we’re shopping, so it seemed like the perfect time to head over to Birks and buy him one.

Here it is:
