I had a near meltdown with my printer last night.
I’m in the home stretch. I’m trying to keep things simple. I just want to print simple menus on white paper on my home printer. I should have known better.
The Lobster-hating printer gave me grief when I printed our invitation envelopes and RSVP envelopes and it would print these phantom dashed lines on the edge of everything. So I had to hand feed all of them. That would be 100 outers, 100 inners, and 100 RSVP envelopes… with THIS wonky fix:
You can see that I reused this post-it multiple times.

Today’s review comes from cwamack of her photographer, Charis Photography in Tennessee!

Our wedding was everything I had hoped for and the photographers did an amazing job!

The Texas coastline is plagued by blood sucking demons: mosquitos. Millions of mosquitos. As of this moment, I have over 100 bites, and that’s no exaggeration. It probably didn’t help that I was outside after dark sanding down furniture for six hours, but that’s another story. While some brides stay insect-worry-free at their indoor weddings, we outdoorsy ladies have to keep in mind specific issues. For me, it’s how to keep our guests bite-free. Here’s the game plan:
When I last left off, Mr. Turtle and I had gone back to the hotel after a wonderful first afternoon of exploring in London. We filled our next three days in the city with sightseeing and adventures.
Some highlights were:
1. Our visit to the town of Windsor and Windsor Castle - I’d been there as a kid, but I had so much fun revisiting with Mr. Turtle! We made some extra memories because it was absolutely pouring rain most of the time we were there and the wind kept blowing my dress up. (Of course I wore a dress…) The castle is totally impressive, mostly because it is nearly 1,000 years old, and also because of my creepy obsession with the royal family. And the town is super cute to walk around in! Lots of restaurants and antique stores!

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
Me or him? Mr. or Mrs. Pin Cushion? It seems like most of our guests think Mr. Pin Cushion.
I’m talking about names here, dear readers. It seems that when it comes to our names, our wedding guests think that Mr. Pin Cushion’s first name should come before mine. Since anonymity is not my strong suit (as evidenced by my lack of blurring in my invitation post), I’ll just come out with our names: Chris and Kendra. (See? Even I say his name first. Sheesh.)
Since our engagement, Mr. Pin Cushion and I have received piles of lovely cards and well wishes. And it is undeniable that people write Chris’ name before mine about 80% of the time.
See? A random sampling of cards. My name first on the left and his name first on the right
The part of our rehearsal dinner that I enjoyed the most had to be giving gifts to our bridal party. I love coming up with creative gifts for people and we had put a lot of thought into what we were giving all of our nearest and dearest.
First up, the girls! I put together gift bags for them with things they could use on the day of the wedding, but I wanted to make sure they were useful after the wedding as well.

A little back story for you: we’re leaving this morning for a two day camping trip in upstate New York with some friends of mine, and I don’t think I could be more excited. I spent a lot of time in the Hudson Valley, moving there for college, staying for summers, and then sticking around after college. I loved my little city and the surrounding towns and the fact that you could be in the city, ride your bicycle for ten minutes, and find a nice cornfield, maybe a herd of sheep and a horse. Where else can you get that kind of variety?
Anyway, we’re packing last night – frantically, because we want to leave at a reasonable hour and we have a ton of stuff to do in the morning – and Fancee stops and says, “You know, back in my single boring days, I would have been packed for this trip two days ago.” Then she sort of shrugged and sighed and went back to packing.
That’s one of the things of relationships, I guess. Why doesn’t anyone tell you how bad they are for you? You get happy, then you gain weight and pack at the last minute. We had no warning!
Congratulations to our winners, robynrome, FutureMrsZapper, Sweet10ve, Miss Red Velvet, and Heather Leib!

For my 18th birthday, two of my dearest friends presented me with a beautiful Remington Portable Model 5 typewriter, c. 1932. It was perfect and fully functional, and I loved it. When another of my dear friends was sent to Iraq as a marine, I frequently typed him letters on the typewriter. In every home I had, it was proudly displayed, with both fashion and function.

I have yet to receive all of the pro photos from our wedding, but if I had to choose one picture to sum up the whole day, it would be this one:
Top reason why I love this photo? Sister Pudding having the time of her life!
We (and by “we” I of course mean Sister Pudding and I) hired our wedding photographers for two reasons:

This past Thursday, the South Houston ladies got together for some Mexican food, margaritas, and wedding talk at Cafe Adobe, and I decided to tag along!
We drank ‘ritas, talked about all things wedding and non-wedding related (including crazy neighbors and speeding tickets), and just generally had a great time!

Starting at the top and working clockwise, ocam_caro’s sister, ocam_caro, asdionis, me (Miss Cardigan, duh!), misscoffee, and PopRox

Our RSVP deadline has come and gone. We’re finishing up the last phone calls and emails to finalize our guest list. It turns out that no matter how many eyes I put these darn DIY invitations in front of, no matter how many times I stared at them, no matter how many iterations they went through, there was bound to be some fails.

Since I hadn’t found the one at my first stop, I decided I’d head to David’s Bridal on my next day off to try on some of their dresses. I’d read that it’d be better to go during the week when they’re less busy so you can get more individual attention. I set my appointment for 11:30 am and could barely sleep I was so excited to try more dresses on.
I arrived at the shop promptly at 11:30 am, and they had me fill out a little form with my basic information. I spent a little time describing what I was imagining for my wedding and wedding dress, and then I got to look through the aisles of dresses and choose which ones I liked best. Are you ready to see what I picked out?!?! I am!!!
We’ve got some good news and some bad news. The good news is Mr G’s best friend from England and his wifey-to-be are saving up money to attend our ceremony! I am so happy to hear this because I was really worried Mr. G would be lonely on our special day. Dave’s BFF is a great guy—so great we are thinking about making him a part of our ceremony!
When they were little, Mr. G told his aforementioned friend that he would be best man at Mr. G’s wedding. So naturally, Dave wants BFF to be his best man in October. It would be nice for him, but this leaves me with a dilemma. While Mr. G would have one super special person around to be his best man, ALL of my friends at our ceremony are super special to me. Since we’re having a small and intimate wedding of 50, half the attendees would be up there with me if I were to have a bridal party! I’ve seen wedding parties with 10 or so groomsmen and bridesmaids on each side, but wouldn’t it look a little silly to have one best man and 5+ bridesmaids up there? And no one sitting in the seats? I love my girlfriends, but I just think it’ll be special and intimate enough with all our loved ones around us in my parent’s backyard. I am blessed to have many many caring, precious friends who would stand with me on my wedding day. I hope my girlfriends won’t be too crushed if I don’t include a bridal party in our ceremony, but if any of our friends would like to do a prepared reading, we’d be very grateful.
Mr. G really wants me to have a bridal party, but I can’t picture it. Although I love, love, LOVE the look of this:

This was actually the FIRST wedding inspiration photo I saved. I would check out the source if I were you— this bride’s wedding was absolutely gorgeous and is my favorite, ever.
…that make the biggest difference and remind me of why I am marrying Mr. L. He really is the greatest (sorry Ali, but he knocks you out here) and always manages to surprise me with the littlest (sometimes big) things to brighten up any cloudy day. A couple months ago, I was hit with some pretty craptastic news that my family was having trouble on the home front and that it could mean a big change in plans for our wedding day.
At that point, I wasn’t sure what was going on and what would happen. Would my father leave the country? Are my parents getting separated? Will Dad still be at the wedding? How can I afford this on my own? I WAS STRESSED! I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to be there for my family and felt selfish for even thinking of myself in their time of turmoil.
Needless to say, I spent a good part of May breaking down in crying fits and fits of anger and confusion. Poor Mr. L didn’t know which way to turn, but he was there by my side through it all. He even took off early from work one day to tidy up the apartment and surprise me because he knows how stressed a sink full of dishes can get me. (I can’t deal with the clutter sometimes.) And he went a step further and knocked the ball out of the park when he scheduled us a couple’s massage one evening after work. It was pretty much the greatest thing that could happen to me and was AAAAAAMAZINGGGGG! A girl really could get used to it. (Watch out, Mr. L—you are setting the bar.)
And, you know what? I got to document it (not the massage part—just time in the relaxation room)! I know I’m crazy…who brings a camera into a spa? I guess I do, but it was on my person and I didn’t plan on bringing it. And really, how could I not document this in someway? (I mean, it was our first time at a spa together.) Okay, now that you know I am not a nut job, onto the photos.
