I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!

Programs! Get Your Programs!

September 1st, 2010 @ 10:32 am by Mrs. Sand Dollar

Our programs are done! One of the first things I wanted to take care of this past weekend was cutting and gluing the program fans. I started with some kraft paper that we cut in half, and then just printed out my program design on some cardstock I had laying around. It was gray, and while at first it sort of bugged me, I decided to just let it go. Our STDs were printed on cream, invites on white, so I figured, why not just throw another color in the mix? The only time you’d ever notice would be if they were all laid out next to each other. So, it’s whatevs.

I think they’re really cute! We tied orange, yellow, red, and brown ribbons on them to go with our colors. The printer was pretty finicky to work with, but eventually everything turned out alright.

I decided to hot glue them after having flashbacks to how dizzy we got using spray adhesive for my friend’s wedding programs. They seem pretty darn sturdy, so I think they’ll be perfect for the day of!

Since we decided to forgo the chuppah and just create a backdrop, I now have two extra buckets. I thought it would be the perfect solution to pop our programs into them! They’re cute, and in-theme. Now I still have to figure out what to wrangle our cards in…

What are you using to hold your programs?

Very cute! I will be using 2 lovely ladies to pass out my programs. It’s kind of a tradition at this point - I have several close college friends, so it becomes the “job” for the girls who are not bridesmaids. It’s a really nice way to include them in the ceremony, and it’s the easiest job ever! Bonus - no basket/bucket/arranging required :)

I picked up a tiny suitcase at Homegoods in our wedding colors, for a couple of dollars, with no idea what to do with it. But it was in the wedding colors! And cheap! So clearly I needed it, right?

We ended up sitting it on a chair with the programs in it, and it was super cute.

It also ferried the rings to the wedding site (harder to lose a suitcase than a ring box), and now holds the CDs of photos and some other memorabilia. As impulse wedding buys go, pretty darn successful.

Stop giving me ideas on what to do! ;)
