Hello! Once upon a time I was a wedding blogger called Mrs. Lemonade. I told the story of a lovely April afternoon that occurred not-so long ago. If you’ll kindly indulge me I’d like to finish telling my tale…
Ah, the first dance. This little wedding rite of passage gave me a decent amount of anxiety leading up to W day. The mister and I chose not to take any sort of dance lessons and not once did we practice our middle school sway. What can I say, we’re naturals.
Our adorning fans (i.e. my family) sat and giggled for the entire six minute song. Yeah, you read that correctly—we chose to awkwardly sway around the dance floor for six full minutes. That’s a really really long time.
But you know what? We didn’t even notice.
We just edited our first dance song down to 2 minutes 44 seconds out of sheer terror of being so bad at dancing! Plus, two-stepping is quite hard on the legs, so almost 4 minutes was a little painful. Here’s hoping he can spin me, and I don’t smack into him on my way back….
I’m glad to hear that someone else had a 6 minute first dance. The song that’s my top contender at the moment runs 5:52 and I was afraid that would be WAY too long. Maybe not, though…

You are rockstars for pulling off six entire minutes of the middle school sway without feeling awkward. Looks like you guys had a beautiful long moment together.

We had our first dance song cut from 4-something to a hair under 2:30, and guests literally thanked us for having such a short song.
Welcome back! I think we’re going to throw down the middle school sway on our first dance too. I don’t want to worry about choreography when I just want to hold my husband (hehehe). We’re having the DJ cut our 6 minute song down a little.
