Mrs. Taco's Picture
Mrs. Taco, San Francisco Age and Occupation: 29, writer/editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 37, editor Engagement Date: May 13, 2009 Wedding Date: August 2010 Venue: The Green Room at the War Memorial Veterans Building About Me: I like laughing and talking with good friends over good food and good drink, be it wine, cocktail, or brew. I write and edit things for fun and profit, but I rarely "write" these days without a keyboard and high-speed internets. Favorites include Mr. Taco, my Boston terrier, San Francisco, getting out of town, and the Roaring ’20s. I was kind-of planning a wedding since roughly 2006, when I discovered "Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?" on the WE channel. I ran and didn't look back with a theme I called "urban vintage," and it culminated in the most magical day a taco could ask for.

Clippity Clop: Solved

September 2nd, 2010 @ 5:52 pm by Mrs. Taco

I’m being incredibly inconsistent and patchy with “recaps” that are more like teasers. But some things deserve their own pre-recap posts. Next up: shoes!

Our venue’s hardwood floors presented a loud-shoe problem, which I outlined here. The hive came through, offering plenty of suggestions for making my walk down the aisle sound less like a horse on a slow gallop. The fab Miz Stripes had the best tip of all, pointing me to Hush Heels and, even better, kindly sending me some in the mail. I can’t even find the exact ones online, but they’re basically puffy foam stickers (kind of like Thickers for the scrapbookers out there) that go on the bottoms of your shoes. You might have to cut them to size, but they’re excellent for muffling.

Tips (via Stripes and Taco) if you use them:

1. They take a some getting used to because the shoe’s a little taller and padded. Wander about in them, especially on hard surfaces.

2. They’re not cute or anything, so if you wanted pics involving under-shoe, they’re probably not so great. But you can still do this!

3. You need extra-strong double-sided tape, because the adhesive on them is pretty weak.

4. It might hard to muffle that tiny section of heel, but muffling the ball of your foot actually cuts down on a lot of noise.

Thanks again for your feedback, and throw any other tips you have in the comments!

After your post and Stripes suggestion, I found them online and bought a whole pack of them! Soo awesome for walking through hallways in school with heels on and not wanting to make a lot of noise. Thanks for the tip Taco & Stripes!

Holy heartattack. My venue has hardwoods and we aren’t using a runner - and I DIDN’T EVEN THINK OF THIS. Ack! Looks like I need a solution too, stat!
