I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. Mock-ups for Table Names

September 2nd, 2010 @ 12:03 pm by Mrs. Elephant

I may have mentioned once or twice that the theme for our wedding is travel. We don’t want to go “overboard” (haha) with the theme; we just want enough to tie the reception together. Guests will get their first taste of the travel theme with the travel tag on our save-the-date cards.

Another way to tie in the theme is to display some pictures from the places Mr. E and I were lucky enough to travel to together. I thought the best way to incorporate these pictures would be in the table names. I was inspired by some pictures of table numbers online and got to work on a mock-up for our tables.

The tables are all named after places that Mr. E and I have vacationed to (or lived in) and will be constructed out of blue and green scrapbook paper; they will include my favorite picture from the trip. The first round of mock-ups was sloppy quick and a little too big for my liking. I decided that less would be more and started in on round two.

The first quick mock-up

The idea is pretty simple: card stock with the name glued above the picture. The paper that I used for the trial was purchased at Michaels (which seems to be my second home since we started planning this wedding) and seems a little flimsy. I may have to take a trip to Paper Source to get some thicker paper. For the picture, I put the mock-ups in some little photo clips that I had lying around, but I think we will be using little easels (found at Michaels, Garden Ridge, or online) for the real deal. What do you think?

The second round of mock-ups

Are you incorporating a personal element into your table numbers?

CUTE! We did something very similar. Since we’d had an LDR for about 3 years, all our tables were named after placed we’d visited/lived in, too.

We did photo cubes, though.

So gorgeous. You bees are putting me to shame. I’m so handicapped when it comes to things like these. I shall be book marking these pages for inspiration though. Hope you don’t mind :)

These are cute. I like the larger place names much better.

Cute idea. I actually made Luggage Tags for my save the dates and “Plan” on doing Airplane Invites. I will try to post an example.

Our theme is Tropical. Each Table will be labeled and Island in HI.

We were going to do this, but we don’t take a ton of couple photos when we go on trips, so I didn’t really have enough of them to be suitable. Plus, we just didn’t think the places we’d been thus far were all that original or exciting….instead we did antique photos of the cities we’d be visting on our honeymoon through Europe. Since we did a honeymoon registry, it was a good way to show how important the trip was to us as part of celebrating getting married.

@mrspaetz: The map runners sounds so cool!

@West Coast Bride: Mr. E and I want to do a big trip to Europe for an anniversary. I’m sure you and your husband will have an amazing time!

I am doing something very similar to this except we are using the gazillion wine bottles we have stored in our garage.

My FI and I looooove camping and went on a camping road trip last year through the midwest (mt rushmore, yellowstone, grand tetons, bear lake, grand canyon, etc). We’ll be incorporating our road trip pictures into our table themes. I’ve taken some thick copper colored jewelry wire and twisted it around the opening of the wine bottle and curved it down around the bottle and made a swirl at the end to hold our picture against the wine bottle. Not sure what I’m going to do yet to signify the “theme” of each table.

Anyway! I’m sure it’s a bit hard to imagine without any pictures but they look better than I ever imagined!
