Yellow!

I die. Really, just kill me. So beautiful! Look at SJP’s neckline!

OK, put your jaws back into place. This post is about jewelry—and Sex and The City—but mostly jewelry.

So, I’m at a bit of a crossroads. I haven’t gotten into it deep with you about wedding dresses yet, but trust me, it is coming. My Aunt Millie gave me a floating pearl necklace for my confirmation. I wanted to wear it for the wedding because I want to keep my auntie close on that day. It was a gift from my most recent sacrament, and I was going to consider it my “something old.” (I hope you all realize that my old-undies comment was a joke, hehe.) However, pearls don’t really go with the dress. Also, Zeb gave me a classic pearl necklace (get your heads out of the gutter!) for our five-year anniversary. Which to choose?

Today’s traditional bride would choose gorgeous chandelier earrings and skip out on the necklace. While this is the safest option for standing the test of time, I’m slightly more risque.

Lately, I’ve been thinking about Zeebing it up! What do I have in mind?

OHHHHHH! Costume jewelry—my fave! I like to rock a big plastic/beaded/fake-ass necklace. It is sort of my thing (along with five million other girls). I’ve got to think about it further and consult with Adeline. Ha! You don’t know who Adeline is yet, but you will. (Keep reading. See what I’m doing to you? It’s a conspiracy!)

In conclusion, I have to give a big, heartfelt shout out to my homegirl, Ms. Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. You all can thank Coco for ladies’ pants, sun tans, and costume jewelry (among many other styles). She rocked them and has kept them rocking for nearly a century. Steel balls—that’s what I like to see on a woman!

love this post (SJP, Coco, and big jewlery)!! Everyone that knows me knows I like big jewlery that is unique and not the slightest bit traditional! I just started looking for jewlery but depending on the dress I choose, I might do big earrings and a cocktail ring for the ceremony, then for the reception throw on some fun necklaces and switch earrings or something. I have yet to decide!

I’m confused… you’ll be accessorising your wedding dress with Coco’s steel balls? Hee hee :)

I am currently getting rid of as much backfat as i can because i totally want a backless gown and will be wearing back jewellry too, figuring that’s what most people will see during ceremony and dancing portions of the day.

My dress has beaded cap sleeves so I nixed the necklace and got some chandelier like earrings. My grandma’s ginormous diamo nd cocktail ring and I’m set.

I am accessorizing my dress with a “big plastic/beaded/fake-ass necklace”. In my opinion it is the only way to go. :)

I am a real simple kinda girl…i love BLING! so my accessories on my wedding day will be a diamante bracelet which i wore at my 21st birthday (that will be my something old) and i bought myself the most gorgeous Teardrop earings all in diamante that i am wearing on the day. Skipping the necklace as i usually don’t wear them anyways. Plus i dont want to over do it in the jewelry department.

@amariem25: Indeed she did. She switched tanned skin from being an attribute of the poor (working in the fields) to something luxurious (vacationing on the French Riviera). I also wish she didn’t start this trend, my irish skin can’t handle it! :)

@silversixpence: Haha, maybe I will, maybe I will.

I love big costume jewelry too! Can’t wait to see what you dig up! And tans are definitely not a trend here, in fact there’s a million dollar industry of whitening creams!

i just bought a vintage (circa 1950) kenneth jay lane crystal necklace. it’s a HUGE statement!! i can’t decide if i should put something sparkly in my hair too or just let the necklace do all of the work.
