After the ceremony finished, Ribs and I hid away in a meeting space in the Union. We didn’t plan for a receiving line and didn’t want one to form spontaneously, so we figured it best to let guests grab their pink lemonades, mingle, and make their way to the cocktail hour first.
After a few precious moments alone as a married couple, the photographers whisked us away to do family portraits and then…we were free! It was finally time to just enjoy the wedding.
Our cocktail hour had passed appetizers—shrimp shooter, artichoke beignet, bruschetta, and mushrooms with sausage—of which the beignet was my big favorite. Every time a waiter walked by with one, I grabbed it! We had an open bar, but it was also stocked with two local Bloomington favorites: Upland beers and Oliver wines.
Our DJ, Michael Antonia of The Flashdance fame, was spinning and the vibe was perfect. We mingled with guests and finally started to admire our lovely, lovely wedding.
