Mrs. Barrettes's Picture
Mrs. Barrettes, Tumon, Guam/Napa, CA Age and Occupation: 29, Dancer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 31, Licensed Building Contractor Engagement Date: November 16, 2008 Wedding Date: October 2010 Venue: V. Sattui Winery About Me: I'm an East Coast girl, living on a tiny little island in the Pacific, twirling, leaping, and shimmy-ing my way through life, and now, wedding planning! I'm equal parts nerdy and cool... okay, mostly nerdy. I love satin bows, red lipstick, black & white graphic anything, the shine of sequins and the sound of a champagne "pop". My favorite books are The Portrait of a Lady, by Henry James, and Tender is the Night, by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I can also conjure a pretty good Patronus Charm. I started my appreciation for good red wine while traveling on the high seas, and it's only fitting that my passion for wine drinking led me to my Napa-bred honey. We bonded over bottles of Cabernet on my oceanfront porch and haven't looked back since. We're sealing the deal at a winery in the Napa Valley on a 'perfect ten' of a day!

Brother Barrettes Ties the Knot!

Brother Barrettes Ties the Knot! : wedding napa pictures Dsc0321 DSC0321

Brother Barrettes tied the knot yesterday in a beautiful ceremony in Hawley, PA. At the end of the evening I asked the bride how she felt about the whole day and she said, “I’m so happy and surprised that nothing went wrong. If it did, I didn’t know about it!”

Just before he began to tear up. He said I couldn’t post the teary ones… :)

Their table numbers were photos of them, holding the actual number, in special places in the town where they met and live. There were also disposable cameras on each table that the bride will use to scrapbook.

We all decided the “cousin tradition” would be our favorite line dance—to “Dancing in September.”

I was serious about catching that bouquet! It went over my head, but it’s okay, I’m next to get married anyway…

Their favors were candles, along with the satin rose. Honestly, there were a lot of candles left on the tables at the end of the night. Does that happen often with favors?

It was such a fun and loving wedding. We were all surprised about how teary my brother was throughout the night. He choked up while he was thanking everyone for coming, and also during his dance with our nom. It was really sweet, as he is usually not a very emotional guy. Ahh weddings, gotta love ’em!

We were very inspired by their wedding and can’t wait to for ours!

Did you find inspiration from weddings you attended?

Everything looks beautiful! I love those bridesmaid dresses too! The bride looked stunning :) Looks like you had fun, and that’s always good when the guests enjoy themselves!

That’s why my favors were edible (candy buffet.) I could re-sell the jars and would have no trouble polishing off any leftovers.

My advice to brides going with non-edible favors is to be conscious of monogramming. It may be cute at the wedding, but no one really wants to take home a “gift” emblazoned with someone else’s name on it. I happen to think those candles are cute, but unfortunately they’re stuck with whatever wasn’t taken home. Not really a way to repurpose them as gifts or anything…

Disregard my last comment I feel like such a heel! I just saw the group shot and realized she didn’t change; I only looked at the YMCA pic and assumed the dark haired girl was the bride again. Both ladies looked gorgeous MY BAD.

I laughed so hard at the picture of you trying to catch the bouquet. I have an embarrassing picture that is similar to yours…except I like like a basketball player…arms in the air trying to block the “ball” from the other players….Le sigh.

Great pictures…looks like fun! My two best friends have gotten married this year, and I’m the last of us. I feel like I can learn from the good and not so good things from their weddings.

Everything really looks lovely.. I love the shot of you and the bouquet catching scene… seriously, if you have facebook, that’s a total profile pic!

Also do you mind asking your SIL what designer her BM dresses were? I think it’s super similar to my girl’s dresses…

The dress you’re wearing was my reception dress (in white of course.) You look great in it!! I want to dye mine and now that I see it in brown I kind of love it!

Looks like it was a great time! We’ve totally been inspired by other people’s weddings, my FI’s best friend got married in July and their wedding was so much fun, we loved a lot of the elements and learned to stop worrying so much about some things. As long as you’re in love and wanting to have a good time, other people, their opinions and the little things cannot get in your way!
