I’m On a 24 Hour Champagne Diet

September 9th, 2010 @ 1:58 pm by Mrs. Glasses

In our relationship, we’ve got anniversaries coming out of every which way.

We’ve got the day we got married officially at the ward office.

I'm On a 24 Hour Champagne Diet : wedding anniversary legal los angeles 25909 6

Pretty important, I’d say.

Then there was the day we met, back in 2007, a few days before Halloween. We were pretty much attached from that day forward.

I'm On a 24 Hour Champagne Diet : wedding anniversary legal los angeles N117015

We decided to make it official on November 1st after knowing each other for only a couple of days! On our second date, after spending the whole night out partying, I asked him: “So what are we?” and he replied, “You’re my girlfriend, of course!”

I'm On a 24 Hour Champagne Diet : wedding anniversary legal los angeles N11701501 So very, very hung over after a Halloween night of partying. But happy and.. young!

And then there’s our upcoming ceremony where we get to dress up, put on rings, and celebrate with our family and friends.

It IS tricky. We’ve decided to have two anniversaries: a mini one for our ward office marriage day in March, and one consolidated anniversary at the end of October that encompasses when we first met, when we decided to be an official couple, and our wedding ceremony date. If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the Japanese, it’s efficiency! For the life of us we can’t remember what date Mr. G proposed but we’ll celebrate twice a year…we do love champagne! And further on down the road, we’ll definitely celebrate an anniversary by returning to Japan and that little pub we (drunkenly) first laid eyes on each other in.

On Wednesday, Mr. G and I toasted to 6 months of wedded-but-not-yet-celebrated bliss. Time flies when you’re in love!

What about you? Engaged folks, what anniversary do you celebrate? Married folks, do you celebrate any other anniversaries besides your wedding anniversary?

We totally are still planning to acknowledge our dating anniversary, because we’d been together for eight years by the time our wedding rolled around — and I didn’t wanna wipe that slate clean and start at one!

Plus, all the “versaries” are at different times during the year — mid-June (dating), end of November (engage) and end of August (wedding), so it’s fun to feel extra-lovey several times during the year on days *not* mandated by Hallmark. ;-)

Congratulations on 6 months and so many anniversaries!! We will only celebrate our wedding anniversary because DH proposed on Sept 4 and we got married on Aug 21 which would be silly to celebrate 2 things so closely. In addition, we never had an official anniversary as a dating couple - it was just sometime in March we would celebrate!

I imagine we’ll continue to celebrate our “official” dating anniversary even after the wedding, since it’s not like we do anything really fancy-schmancy for it anyway. Every year on April 20th (4-20- I swear it wasn’t on purpose) we re-create our first date- we wear the same outfits, and go to the same resturant (a casual burger resturant) and then go see a movie after. We’re getting married on October 10th, so our two anniversaries will be 6 months apart, which works out really well. Our wedding anniversary will obviously be the fancier of the two with a nice dinner and gifts and what not. I don’t think we’ll really worry about the engagement anniversary, just because it will be way too close to the wedding (November 14th)

Mr. S and I met in October of 07 too! He asked me out for the first time on Halloween. October is when we met, got engaged and we’ll be married. March is our dating anniversary though, so we’ll also be celebrating in March and October.

Congrats! Honestly, we don’t know what date we started dating, so it’s never been important to us. We just celebrate everything that’s remotely exciting, but now we have a date! Actually two because he proposed on his birthday, so we’ll never forget that.

We jsut got engaged but I vote celebrate as much as possible. There are too many couples out there that don’t want to celebrate each other I think the rest of us should over-celebrate!

I love that you guys get to celebrate multiple anniversaries! How much fun is that?! We met Labor Day ‘04 and became “official” Labor Day ‘05 (yeah…FI’s a bit of a slow starter!), so we celebrate those anniversaries every year with a big party at the same people’s house who introduced us! It’s fun and a great way to relive the memories! And we’ll, of course, celebrate our wedding anniversary every October, too. They’re kinda close together, but we can’t stop now!

I think we will still celebrate our dating start because it was such an unusual situation and our wedding date is the week before my FI birthday so that might end up being rolled into one celebration down the road.

Yay for more times to celebrate! Even if it’s small, it’s still fun to acknowledge those days!

DH and I dated for 8 1/2 years before we got married, so we were very attached to our November 1st dating anniversary (a post-Halloween relationship just like yours!). We had decided on celebrating our dating anniversary and our marriage anniversary because DH felt that “June 19th just wasn’t as cool as November 1st… it’s just a random day”. Then we had our wedding and it was so insanely awesome that we both looked at each other the next day and said, forget November 1st!

Sounds like a good plan to me! We’ll be celebrating mostly in August or September. Our dating anniversary is at the end of August and we’re thinking of getting married in mid-September. We’ll probably celebrate both.

our ‘dating’-aversary is Nov 1st too! I’m going to miss it because it’s so easy to remember… I think we might still celebrate it anyway.

We plan to still celebrate our dating anniversary when we get married–that is in July and our wedding will be in December. That way we’ll get to celebrate in two different seasons!

I made it easy and picked the wedding date on our dating anniversary. :) You have so many reasons to celebrate. Ain’t nothing wrong with that!

Ours are all lumped together in one week - we started dating on the 18th of June, got engaged 5 years later on the 22nd, and are getting married on the 25th next year. We’ll probably just pick whichever date is more convenient each year, and celebrate then.

Yay! the more anniversaries, the merrier, I think! :) We’ll still celebrate our date-aversary, since it falls on convention weekend ;)

Ha! you have so many date choices. We dated for so long, that I’m sad to give up our dating anniversary . . . I have a feeling we’ll still celebrate it though.
