My-my-my-my-my Boogie Shoes

September 9th, 2010 @ 2:42 pm by Ms. Sloth

For almost my entire life, I’ve said, “I’m wearing comfy flats under my wedding gown. Nobody’s going to see them anyway.” And I’ve never been a fan of, for lack of a better word, pretty shoes. My footwear tastes lean more toward the funky.

But now, for some reason, I find myself craving satin stilettos to wear underneath my wedding dress. Brightly colored! With bows or rosettes! And sparkly things!

What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I stop looking at stuff like this?

What kind of shoes are you planning on wearing under your wedding gown—fashionable, functional, or a combo of both?

Same thing here! Total non-shoe person because Carrie Bradshaw once I got engaged. It’s like the SATC gene comes attached to the diamond, I swear!

I lOVE those yellow shoes!! I wore blue shoes to my wedding to go with our wedding colors, with a 1 inch heel cuz I don’t do high heels. It was awesome, even though halfway through the night I ended up just going barefoot :)

I’m planning on wearing high heels under my wedding dress, but really its more because I’m an itty bitty thing (4ft 8in!).

@emma5w: I don’t think my obsession was because of SATC - I think it’s more that I became ensconced in a world of wedding blogs where everything is So. Darn. Pretty.

I wore heels, but I’ve never shied away from heels. They’re a red metalic leather and really comfortable for about three hours. :) After that I wore my sister’s old ballet slippers.

Thing is, I should have opted for something with more of a platform so then dragging dress would not have been stepped on by the new husband, causing it to tear. (A small tear, but there goes giving the dress away.)

I’m combining practical (not very high wedge heels) and pretty (silver peep toes with a flower), and that’s about as shoe-extravagant as I’ve ever been in my life. I usually wear running shoes.

If you find you’re craving fabulous, pretty shoes, go for it!

I may or may not have switch from 4 inch heels to terry cloth slippers at my reception… Also, did this title make anyone else think of the dance they did to this song on So You Think You Can Dance? Or am I the only nerd who watches that?

oh my lord … if I had seen those pink Kate Spades before my wedding, there would be no doubt in my mind I would have found a way to make them mine. LOVE.

These are beautiful but most are way too high for me. I didn’t want to wear taller heels than is usual for me because I knew I would be uncomfortable. I am sure you can find a beautiful shoe with a modest heel height. Those pink ones are gorgeous and they’re only 2.5 inches—totally doable.

I’m all about the beautiful shoes under a wedding dress, especially if they’re colorful!

I am big fan of heels — because they’re pretty and b/c they lend me some extra height (I’m only 5′2” so I can get away with some pretty high ones). I’ll be wearing 4 inch peep toe sling backs- dyed teal and featuring a rhinestome broach for some sparkle! Love them…. But I know I’ll want to ditch them when it’s time to hit the dance floor so I’ll be scoping out some wedges to meet somewhere in the middle for the nighttime festivities. :)

PS. I just saw those gorgeous yellow, black and white pumps at Von Mauer for 30% off….

I was determined to wear flats.. hell I’dve gone barefoot if I thought I could get away with it. But, same as you, all these beautiful heels started coming to my attention, and then I bought a fancier dress than I thought I’d get, and it all just went to hell. I now have a pair of 4″ (1″ platform, so really only 3″), gold/bronze metallic heels in my closed waiting for next March. Oops? Damn bride-brain.

*closet.
And who am I kidding trying to say they’re 3″. They’re 4″! 4! WHAT?! On my wedding day!? Where I’ll be standing and walking around a ton!? What am I thinking!? Good thing they’re at least pretty comfortable…

those yellow shoes are so cute. i went with a combo–patent pink peeptoe slingbacks (whew, mouthful) with a 2.5″ heel and platform.

I blame it on the world of wedding blogs–not that I’m complaining, bc I love me some shoes.
