Ms. Stripes's Picture
Ms. Stripes, Los Angeles Age and Occupation: 29, Costume Designer/Stylist Fiancee's Age and Occupation: 29, Chef Engagement Date: June 23, 2009 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: Heritage Square Museum About Me: I’m a type A creative with a messy streak, a loud mouth, and an uncanny knack for combining clashing patterns. I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my feet (or at least my toes) on the ground, my head in the clouds, and my arm around the prettiest girl you ever saw- aka Fiancee Stripes. Together we’re planning a FUN vintage/modern French carnival wedding extravaganza and rockin’ dance party on a dime. (Say that three times fast!) Good coffee, long lists, Uniball pens, and my iPhone keep me sane, and making art, making trouble, and making out keep me happy! I love urban adventures, bike rides that end with afternoon drinks, breakfast for dinner, beautiful light, photography, travel, my furry family, and of course, my beautiful fiancee! I’m super excited to be here and can’t wait to share all our adventures as we craft a joyful, budget-friendly, design-savvy and all-around AWESOME wedding!
About Ms. Stripes

Hiya!

I know I promised a fourth installment of the invitation madness, but I hope you’ll forgive me for forgoing it (for now) and throwing up a few simpler posts. My bridal brain is shot. Don’t worry though, I will eventually deliver the 4th installment—aka, How to DIY your own Awesome Lino Prints…and by eventually I mean post wedding. Duh. And sorry.

Until then, let’s talk about other pretty, sparkly things, like veils and headpieces. Yup—our heads aren’t gonna be naked at this love fest of ours, because I threw a couple things together for us…

Wanna see?

This one is mine and I LUUURVE it! I wanted something a little more unique/extravagant than the typical bandeau/flat across the face birdcage, so naturally I chose the MOST expensive vintage french silk netting in a gorgeous shade of pale gray that California Millinery carries. It cost me $10.95 for a yard, and I only used half. And it took about 15 minutes. Do the math = SCORE! I already had the flowers and I threw the whole thing on a headband because I hate having stuff pinned/tied onto my head. Easy peasy. So easy I’ll even give you a tutorial before the wedding if y’all want one!

The Peacock Feather/Sparkle Magic:

The Cuteness:

This one is for F Stripes who specifically requested peacock feathers! I trimmed the feathers and glued them all to a felt base, which attaches to a headband via the cuteness (aka, red felt hearts). I actually found the green feather/sparkle magic already thrown together at Michael Levine for about five bucks and just went from there. Easy, cheap, and awesome—just the way we like things around here as we approach the single digit countdown.

Stay tuned—I’m planning lots of awesome easy tutorials and loads of posts about all of our last minute projects leading up to the big day. I might even get in a serious post or two if my brain resumes fully functioning anytime soon. Keep your fingers crossed for that one, though.

Anyone else fully immersed in last minute mayhem? What all are you planning to get done before the big day? What are you scrapping in favor or sleep/sanity?

pretty pretty! I may be scrapping my garter :(, but really it’s too soon to tell…I can always knock a bunch of things out of the way if I really focus…I have cut back on things though and am curious to see what I can finish.
