Our Four-Legged Friend

September 10th, 2010 @ 9:43 am by Ms. Sloth

Mr. S and I are one of those couples who are totally obsessed with their dog. We talk about him all the time, make up songs about him, talk to him like he’s a person, and all of that other borderline-creepy nonsense.

But we can’t help it. Look at that face!

Since he’s a part of our family, we’d love it if he could be a part of our wedding. Unfortunately, it won’t happen since our venue won’t allow it, and, more importantly, he’s a little demon and would probably run amok, peeing on everything and getting his muddy paws all over everyone’s nice wedding clothes and trying to kiss people on the mouth.

We’ve never been the type of people to dress up our dog—mostly because he’d never stand for it. So when I see something like this…

I wouldn’t dream of putting it on him. But I wish he could just be there, running around, being part of the day in his own way. And every time I see photos like these, I just want to cry with happiness.

Aww, I remember your pup from the beagle appreciation thread! :) Can you do some pictures with him? Perhaps you can have someone bring him to a certain spot for a few quick photos? Just a thought…he is so cute!

What a little cutie pie!! We don’t have our own dog, but a few of our wedding guests *brought* their doggies to our wedding, since we are their normal sitters! :)

What Mrs. Quiche said! Basil is about the cutest beagle I’ve ever seen.

We can’t have pets at our wedding, so I had a cake topper made with our cat and dog holding a sign with our last name and wedding date on it. It’s just a little way of having them there with us that day.

Mudcards at Etsy made it, and it’s fantastic. Highly recommend!

Awww! We have to furry babies who we love like that too.

If you had asked me a couple days ago if we would want them in the wedding I would have said YES! But after trying to take engagement photos with them yesterday I have completely changed my mind. =)

So cute, I’d love to have my dogs in the wedding! But they’re so ill behaved around new people, they’d be running amok…knocking over children….eating food off plates. Maybe if they were older, this would work. I’ve got the cute little costumes too. My idea is to dress them up for the getting ready pictures, and since we’re getting ready at our house all together then having a first look, I think we could get a few photos with them. It’s a good compromise!

Aww, what a precious face!!!

Baby Barrettes is totally in our wedding. The venue doesn’t know it yet. I’m going to ask for forgiveness rather than ask for permission. ;)

I love pictures like those, however FI and I each have a dog that we got before we started dating. Mine is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who does great in crowds and would totally be little show stealer. He loves soaking up the attention. FI’s dog is a Boxer who has had no training and is a wild man. He minds his manners at home with us pretty well (house rules), but he hasn’t been very well socialized, so when we take him out, he turns into a pogo stick. A very excited pogo stick. Who knocks people over unintentionally and steals food from small children.

I defintely plan on having them in our e-pics, but as far as the wedding…that I have yet to figure out. And FI is totally baffled as to why I would want them there, lol.

What an adorable doggie!!! I admit to being one of those dog-obsessed people too. FI and I are probably pretty nauseating to everyone else :P

We’re hoping to have Leroy in some getting-ready photos, is that an option for you?

That second picture of him is great. Sorry he can’t be there with you. Our dogs wore a bow tie and a tie to our wedding and I wish we’d gotten more pictures with them.

What a cute dog! We won’t have Gypsy at the wedding, but we did include her in part of our engagement pictures.

Awww what a cutie! We have 2 dogs (complete opposites though) who we love very much! I’m totally down for dressing them in bride and groom outfits for the day just to run around in. :) They won’t be at the wedding at all though…

I love your beagle!! We have two dogs, and my fiance would love to have them as part of the wedding. But, they are a bit crazy and I don’t want to have to worry about them behaving while we’re trying to get married. So, we are including them in our engagement photos, instead.

I can admit this now that I’m getting married. I have a cat and I’m a little crazy about her, although not to insane levels. Still, she has several nicknames and she gets all the coolest kitty gadgets. One of her nicknames is “Maybe Destruction” (Long story but super funny. You’ll have to trust me.) so I think that right there explains why she will be far far away from our wedding.

If I thought it was reasonable to include my cat in the day, I definitely would. However, we are getting married in my hometown which is an 8 hour car ride from where we currently live. So I don’t want to torture him. Also, I just can’t see him being anything but trouble and I’d be worried about who was watching over him the whole time….cause I’m a little crazy about him. :)

Yeah it is a pity that our dogs are such a central part of our lives, but won’t be at our wedding. Boo….

omg those last 2 photos make my heart melt!! My family dogs will be taking part in our 2′nd shebang overseas where my folks live! And your pup is so cute! Whenever we see dogs when we’re out, Mr. Swiss always makes fun of me b/c I either say one of 2 things. 1. (squeeel) Oh a dog! Look at his widdle face!” or 2. (squeeeel) Oh a dog! Look at his widdle butt!” I can’t help it! lol

Our two boys won’t be in the wedding but we are having our dog walkers take them to Valley Forge Park for some photos with us! I can’t wait. They are such a part of our lives that not including them in any capacity would break my heart.
