I have showed you the pearl studs Mr E gave me for my second set of ear piercings, and I showed you my hair pin in my hair and makeup trial post yesterday.
So, how about even more jewellery porn, people? When it comes to jewellery, I’m definitely a silver girl. I think the only gold things I own are my engagement and promise rings. But you can usually predict I will have something silver in my ears.
Last year for Christmas my parents gave me this gorgeous pair of Balinese silver earrings.
(I just had to take the photo with them dangling from my fav mug, ’cause I’m cool like that.)
I immediately knew they were perfect for the wedding (yes, yes I wasn’t “officially” engaged at the time but we both had weddings on the brain!). I wear quite elaborate/ dramatic earrings in everyday life, so my wedding day earrings have to bring something more to the table than drama. These ones are elegant, yet still intricate, and are dainty enough to complement my hairstyle and dress without overpowering them.
My mum said they had hunted and hunted for a necklace to go with the earrings, but saw nothing when they were last in Bali. So when I was in transit in Bali on my way back to New Zealand in February I had a bit of a look. Lo and behold, I was in luck! A necklace that matches my earrings EXACTLY was tucked away in a jewellery shop in a Kuta shopping mall.
(Photo taken with my hairpin included because I just couldn’t resist
)
I love its length! To give you an idea, here is a horribly blurry photo of it on me:
I love choker-type necklaces, and this one isn’t quite a choker but it is a good short length (I was worried about falling in love with a necklace that was too long to look “right” with my dress), and, like the earrings, it isn’t too showy so as to overwhelm me. I think “Victoriana” when I see this necklace (yes, I’m totally smitten with it).
I plan to also wear a bracelet on the day, perhaps something that mixes pearls and silver, but as of yet I’m undecided on what I want. Maybe I can poach a relative’s jewellery collection and have the bracelet be my “something borrowed.”
But bracelet shopping could be fun!
What look are you going for with your wedding jewellery? Dramatic? Subtle? Classic? (If you can’t tell, jewellery is one of my favourite subjects to talk about!)
