About Ms. Sloth

It’s In the Bag

September 13th, 2010 @ 12:43 pm by Ms. Sloth

Carrie Bradshaw had shoes; I have handbags.

Okay, so my obsession isn’t as extensive or as expensive as hers. But handbags are the one fashion-related item I’ll spend real dough on. I buy my clothes at stores like H&M, Forever 21 and Target, but I have no problem spending some serious cash on a high-quality leather bag, and I have quite a few. I don’t care too much about brands or labels, just the style and quality.

Anyway, it’s funny that with my handbag obsession, I haven’t even considered my wedding handbag until now.

The thing is, do brides even carry handbags? Will I need one? I kind of imagine that I’ll have a big tote of stuff hidden under something, and it’ll contain…I don’t know, my cell phone and a lip gloss, maybe?

But since I’m all about bags, I’ll probably want a cute little bridal clutch that I can carry again. Here are some of the ones that I’m digging, although I doubt I’ll spend more then $50 on mine.

Will you be carrying a clutch on your wedding day?

Yep, I plan on carrying a clutch. I can’t wait to see which handbag you choose!

I LOVE the yellow and magenta one… especially thinking back to your previous post with the tangerine, magenta, mismatched bridesmaid dress color scheme! I love that clutch so much that I am considering getting it… would you mind posting a direct link? I searched on endless but couldn’t find it :)

The feathered one is de-licious. As much as I love handbags, I don’t think I’ll be carrying a clutch, I’ll probably just stash my gloss in the groom’s pocket. We should be around each other all night, so shouldn’t be hard to find my gloss :)

I bought an over-sized clutch on etsy for $20. It’s cute a basic green. Very reusable. Not the purse I had my heart set on, but I won’t lose it, it was cheaper then my first choice, and far more usable again.
My purse will hold my makeup for touch ups. A wallet and some extra cash. A few of emergency day pieces like Advil, decongestant, and band-aids. (my cute new flats still need more stretching)

I can’t want to see which bag you pick. I love the first one.

Aagh, that feather clutch is awesome! I feel the same way about clutches, in general. But I never get a chance to use them!

Hmmm good point, I haven’t decided yet if I’ll carry a clutch yet either (I probably will just for the lip gloss and facial powder)…. I’m envisioning something totally blinged out. Silver, please. :)

My FH is very laid back and has very few pet peeves, but one of them happens to be me asking him to carry stuff for me in his pockets. So I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting a clutch to have with me at the reception. Not sure if I’ll carry it in with me or how that will work.

I think a lot of brides carry clutches, but I went without because my bridal suite was right upstairs from our reception room, so I figured anything I’d carry in a clutch could just stay in there. Also I sort of hate having to keep track of a purse, I usually default to putting my wallet in a jacket pocket or making my husband carry my ID and credit card when we go out. But if you’re into handbags, there are plenty of fun and beautiful ones to complement any bridal look.

I will! I bought some runners from a girl on WeddingBees and my mom made clutches for my bridesmaids and I!

I love those. I don’t think I’ll carry a bag…I’ll just leave my stuff upstairs in the bridal sweet which is where I’ll go to pee, touch up etc, any way. I did however order my bridesmaids super cute bags from viabella on etsy.

I don’t think I’ll be carrying around a purse for our day because our wedding is at our house and if I need something I could get it easily, but I can’t imagine not having a purse around if it wasn’t at our house. You’ve picked out cute ones and I think your BMs would be happy to be on purse patrol when youre not around!

I’m not carrying a clutch but I really like the yellow one! Can’t wait to see what you picked out.
